This 17th century Grade II listed house is located in pretty village of Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. Dating back to 1604, Ashfield House offers luxurious rooms, country cooking and a walled garden. Individually decorated rooms feature Egyptian cotton bedding. Each offers a TV, Yorkshire tea and freshly ground coffee and an en suite bathroom with bathrobes and a hairdryer. The garden suite also has a lounge with feature fireplace and wood stove. A full English is served at Ashfield House and a changing 3-course dinner menu is also available on certain days. All ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. There is also a licensed 'honesty' bar. Guests can relax in the lounges or gardens and free Wi-Fi is available in communal areas. Set on the River Wharfe, Grassington is ideal for walking, fishing and cycling and lies on the ‘The Dales Way’ trekking route.Ashfield House has free private parking and is 9 miles from Skipton.

From the first greeting, we were treated with respect and thoughtfulness. All staff had smiles, from morning till night, and eager to help in any way. We stayed in the Garden Room, and were delighted with the service; breakfast served in our room, log fire made for us each day, and the whole suite cleaned daily. Afternoon tea, was included in the tariff, which was delightful, and also served in our room. Altogether a wonderful 2 days, and we will be definitely returning, and would recommend .

The owner arrived shortly after and carried our bags to the room, showed us how the remote control works on the TV, showed us the private bathroom which was excellent. We felt like we were treated like a king and queen. The morning breakfast was fresh, homemade and we were again given the royalty treatment. 11 out of 10 for the whole experience. I have NEVER been treated at any other accomidation so well, ever. BRAVO. The hospitality extended to us from both owners and staff was the best we have ever encountered! The rooms were comfortable and well equipped as well as being very clean with linen of a high quality. The gardens were well kept and very tranquil making for a peaceful retreat. The food was exquisite and we were made to feel extremely welcome. This hotel is perfectly situated for walking, cycling and fishing! with stunning scenery on it's doorstep! We will definitely return!. Ashfield house was beautiful, ideally situated for countryside or city of York. As soon as we walked in we were made to feel at home. Joe and Elizabeth are magnificent hosts and made my mothers birthday a memorable one. Nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff and Joe and his team are passionate about their food. I would definately recommend Ashfield house to anyone. Had a great time here - Joe, Elizabeth and all the others make a big effort to welcome you and manage to be friendly and helpful but not in your face. The dinner was lovely and the wine list is great - one of few places that doesn't put huge mark-ups on average wine! Good breakfasts too. Comfy rooms, cosy atmosphere and in a great spot to explore the Dales. Will be back!. first time to Ashfield house,Joe and Elizabeth are both fantastic hosts and ran a fabulous hotel,both the hotel and the food are some of the best we,ve ever experienced ,ideal location to relax and take in some stunning countryside ,also if the foresters arms have a live band playing it,s well worth a visit to let your hair down with the locals . The welcome was lovely. a lot of care has gone into making the place special. The breakfast was delicious. We had dinner 'in' on one evening - single sitting, meet in the lounge, nibbles.... great. and Elizabeth's bed and butter pudding is delicious - strange, a very British dish made by an anglised American! The welcome you got as soon as you get there,afternoon tea and cakes.the comfortable bed,and the little extras like dressing gowns slippers lotions a little shaver,sewing pack,and shoe shine.the hosts were lovely ,and a lovely breakfast that filled us up for most of the day. We found the pillows a little hard, and the mattress protector made it too hot and sticky, however, I do understand that this is a necessity, for cleanliness. nothing. Beds in twin share very narrow so nearly came out a few times!. The only thing I can say is the parking area is very small. It was a really hot day when we arrived, the room that we were put in was on the small side. I was disappointed that there wasn't a very nice view from my window. During the night we could not sleep because of a noise coming and going from what we think was the boiler. This made my husband very tired the next day. We told the owners about our disturbed sleep and that we were not happy with the room. In no time at all they moved us to room 5 and we really enjoyed the rest of our stay. Only small thing was our room had a bathroom next door and when you get to a certain age you have to go when you have to go, my wife was not confident at opening the door so I had to go with her in the early hours. That said even the bathroom was spotless and well equipped. the fact that we could only stay one night for this visit! - would hope to stay longer in future. There wasn't anything we didn't like. Can't think of anything!. The car park is very tight. But probably under standable because of its position.We didn't take the evening meal perhaps at £38.00 pounds a head it's a little on the high side . As there was a festival on the times of the meals v the starting times of the events was not compatible . Price of dInner - although it was good food we felt it was a bit pricey - probably our fault for not checking price beforehand though - felt a bit rushed into it. The tv was too small for the room. Not a lot perhaps the showere cubicle could have been a little bigger but that wouldn't stop us returning!!. not much really. Parking difficult. Wifi problems but nothing serious. Dinner was expensive so chose to dine out in local pub. Small issue was trying to get a parking space when the hotel is full - it is definitely manageable but it is pretty tight. having to leave. Separate bathroom - ensuite would have been preferred Bathroom very hot. Small bedroom with an awkward wardrobe. Nothing. It was an excellent two day experience there was nothing to critise. Nothing about Ashfield House.Grassington though is very crowded and in all honesty the pubs could do better. Nothing. Having decided to stay there because the website said evening meals were available, we were disappointed to find that this was not the case because of low visitor numbers at this time of year. This should have been made plain in the website. If it was stated somewhere then it was not very obvious. small room and 'en suite' was a separate room next door down the hall. Our room was a little small considering price. It was a nice room - just smallish. Ok for one night but we were there for 4. Would still go back. Hotel located up a narrow lane and parking was tight. May sound rather petty but we weren't wild about the leather sofas but I guess it's just down to personal taste really. Having said that, we relaxed by the fire for about two and a half hours so clearly it wasn't too much of a problem !. The twin beds were too narrow at 2'6". wasn't en-suite,bathroom next room (so in and out of y our roomfor loo and shower) I know it was a very good price,but misleading about what the room was.
