The Northfield House Hotel is located 5.6 km south of Edinburgh Waverley Rail Station and the shops of the city centre. The regular buses take 15 minutes to reach Princes Street. Edinburgh Airport is a 15-minute drive away, avoiding the traffic of Edinburgh city centre. All of the en-suite rooms have TVs.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and let us check in before 1pm as the room was ready. The hotel is excellent for the price and as the bus to the city centre costs £1.10 it is a far cheaper option than staying right in the centre (especially during the fringe). Comfortable bed and clean room well furnished and adequate size. Menulimited but good and breakfast was satisfactory. Good luck to RichardMel and the team.

All the staff were very catering and helpful. It was close to the city centre (about 10 pounds to take a taxi) and it was quiet at night.Lovely room, very good friendly service and a good breakfast. On bus route into city centre, bus stop directly across the road. Very friendly and fantastic Service ( indeed with a s), Fast, stable andfree internet access also available in the room. Windows didn't dampen outside street noise and there was a lot of noise from doors slamming inside the hotel until the staff left for the night. The bathroom lacked a wastebasket and a spare roll of toliet paper. Needs a hairdryer in the room although one was made available, info on where it and iron is in the room would be helpful. Menu limited for me as I cannot eat some additives so choice very limited. Cooked breakfast not available before 8am, cereal left out for me but milk and bread left out overnight so not so fresh.The room could have had thicker curtains. The radiators did not work in our room on the first night, we spent ages trying to get them sorted and it was quite cold, by the second night this had been fixed.Rooms were tired, shower quite small, no bath, bed not very comforable. Bedroom and bathroom are ready for an upgrade.Only stayed one night, continental breakfast (not mentioned to us prior to arrival) and the shower was terrible. Noisy bar below the room with loud music, unable to relax and fully enjoy time spent in the room in the evening, therefore this does not reflect the price paid for the room. Good attentive staff.
