The warm and friendly welcome from mine host, the very comfortable four poster bed and the direct link through to the adjoining Mr Grundy's where there are many pictures of stars past and present, three of the real ales are brewed on site there is even a Red Phone Box for an extra bit of atmosphere.
As above plus that the value added details (tea, soaps etc.) in the room were clearly provided with the customers convenience and satisfaction in mind - not skimped on and set out minimally as a 'grudging requirement' as is evident in many other hotels.kaikki arvostelut »
I stayed here because my daughter is at University Halls and this hotel couldn't be better location-wise - right opposite the halls. Good value pub next door. Easy and secure parking. Extremely friendly staff. Nice cooked breakfast in the morning.
This hotel is ideal if you are visiting someone staying at Derby University halls. There is parking at the back and there is a pub next door. Value for money - near to the town centre.
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful - they took time to help find a suitable secure spot for my bicycle. The facilities were fine, the food fine and the beer excellent...
Location was good, staff excellent with regards to arranging my sons 21st birthday meal. The staff couldnt do ever to help, with sorting out meals etc.. A great weekend thank you.
Very nice small hotel, friendly staff, Free upgrade to four poster bed. Good food in the evening. All round excellent value for money.
the hotel and staff were very welcoming nothing seemed too much trouble we had a great stay and would love to come back thank you x.
I like the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.Staff are attentive and considerate.
The fact that the interior was in keeping with the period of the house.
Fab Place to stay :-) Mr Grundys Bar is nice as well.
It was just for 1 night and I would go back.
Staff, food , service, rooms, all good.
Bedroom was fantastic,friendley staff.
Nice traditional pub / guest house.
Good Standard overall.
Bed very comfortable.
Nice and friendly.
The hotel was very quaint and had lots of character. The room was nice
and clean and the shower worked well We didnt have any food so can't
comment on that.
The location , we were at a surprise 50th party at the Travellers Rest so it was only a few minutes walk away.
Friendly staff, excellent micro beers, hearty food, good internet access.
Easy to find. Near to the university. Comfortable.Staff were friendly.
Room was good size, warm and clean. The location was ideal for us.
Traditional décor and comfortable beds at a fair price.
I love the olde worlde experience but with mod cons.
Good location, parking.
Interesting decor.
Location Cost.
Although there was a party downstairs with loud music we couldn't
hear it in the room. The beds were comfortable.
The bar, dining and communal areas were quite nice.
very close to where we needed to be. good value.
bar area was nice.
Nothing.
The slightly undercooked chips in the pub/restaurant area (all of which was otherwise excellent).
It is a little old fashioned and the bathroom was a bit cold - however, for the price it was a good hotel.
Just want to make visitors aware that they finish serving breakfast at 9.00 am, which was a bit of a shock when my son and I went down for breakfast at 9.10 am only to be told the chef had gone home and breakfast was closed. The staff, however, did offer to make us some toast and cereal, but we declined and went into town.
The rooms were cold, we did have a elderly couple with us, they did find it a little difficult with the cold rooms. That was all .
No healthy alternative to breakfast for the 8 pounds.
The room was hot in the morning and unable to open the windows.
noise from main road.
Shunted in to pub for Breakfast.
Definately needs updating and refurbished.
Nothing in particular.
The location -the hotel is on a very busy A-road and the windows
don't keep the traffic noise out at all so I had a pretty sleepless
night. Waterproof mattress covers and not the ones with cotton covers so
just the bed sheets on top of the plastic. It was horrible and when we
checked out they said all the beds have them. I have never seen these in
any hotel!! Lastly £8 pp for breakfast is a bit steep!.
The toilet seat was broke.
Only one toilet roll but had been half used already.
Shower - the temperature control didn't work properly.
Radiator was on full but not very warm. To make up for this there was a fan heater that only just worked and wasn't PAT tested.
Staff weren't very forthcoming, they didn't offer breakfast on arrival and didn't ask on departure whether we had enjoyed our stay.
Room a little cramped.
It was noisy. I could hear the upstairs people using the toilet. The 2 nd night there was a couple who were very drunk and up most of the night. When I reported this the person was fairly sympathetic but not particularly concerned I had such a bad sleep. Others experienced the same disturbance.
Would have been nice to have breakfast included in the rate.
Fixed price of £8 for breakfast - we went elsewhere.
Reception area looked like a storage room first appearances guys! Light in bathroom didn't work.
A bit old and tatty.
Room heating not great.
Old tired facilities, needs a revamp. Wifi did not work in the bedroom.
When we arrived there was no clear directions to the reception. After
walking around the whole building we discovered the only way was to
battle our way through the pub with our bags to find a small desk
hidden under the stairs. Although we had requested an accessible room
we were given a room on the 1st floor which was accessed by walking
through a private party. The ensuite was tiny with mouldy poor standard
shower and toilet.
My sheets and duvet smelled of stale tobacco smoke. The toilet had not been cleaned since the previous occupant as evidenced by the faecal matter lining the inside of the toilet bowl!.
décor a bit dated.
went to my room and it all went down hill.
room was dirty, the shower was so moulde i couldn't bring my self to use it !! untortanatly it was a bank holiday so i was stuck.
nether again.
