The Vestry - Valokuvat
Mitä ihmiset sanovat
The Vestry is a delightful place, above a pub on a main street in Chichester, a charming, unspoiled town in West Sussex. The hotel is very near the train & bus stations and an easy walk from all attractions.
Our room and bath were clean, spacious and comfortable, simple but very efficiently appointed, with the usual English trouser press, kettle, coffee, tea, biscuits. TV offers LOTS of channels and internet worked quickly and well. Reception is a little desk in the pub and staff are casua. kaikki arvostelut »
From the welcome by the Manager which was friendly and professional to
the lovely, huge and comfortable bedroom and to the excellent full
English breakfast, this was an excellent choice for us.The Vestry is in
a good city location with plenty of local restaurants nearby. We were
upgraded to one of the best rooms (No 10) which we greatly appreciated
(lovely spa bath) and we couldnt believe the size of the comfortable
bed. Everything was spotless too. We had read reports of the noise from
the mus.
We were very impressed by the very friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. organising and helping with the safe storage of our bicycles seemed to be no problem at all for them.
The spacious room and bathroom were much appreciated. Given the music in the bar on both nights, we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet our rooms remained.
There was a well presented breakfast, with the usual cereal and fruit juice, but as a bonus a real fresh fruit salad. The freshly cooked to order hot .
The Vestry was deceiving from the outside. It looked like a typical town centre pub and I was worried we may have made a mistake in booking our stay there. However as soon as we stepped inside I was reassured. The member of staff who greeted us was friendly and helpful, even carrying my suitcase upstairs for me. Our room was superb, the breakfast was very good and cooked to order, and all the staff were attentive. I would certainly return myself and would recommend it to others.
On one site it was described as a bijou hotel, but on arrival we found the reception to be part of a cavernous beamed bar which could accommodate a lot of revellers. The staff were very friendly and efficient and showed us to our room which was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it.They cater for food (lunches, etc.) during the day, but not evening meals.
The Vestry is a bar with accommodation above. Staff are friendly in a relaxed atmosphere, and breakfast is freshly cooked for you. The Vestry is a short walk from the railway station and at the beginning of one of the major shopping streets of the city. The cathedral is not far away. Chichester offers a wide range of independent shops.
Good central location within easy walking distance of good places to eat, site seeing and shopping.
The bedroom room was bright and nicely decorated with good quality furniture and fittings.
Good size very clean bathroom. Excellent , cooked breakfast.
Free pass from vestry to park at rear of hotel from 6 pm to 10 am was very helpful.
Staff very helpful and professional.
Parking permit until 10am, excellent.
Breakfast was very nice and quick service.
I was a lone female and I had to walk into a very busy and noisy bar, but staff very very prompt and escorted me to my room and showed me how everything work.
Room was very quiet, no noise from the bar.
Lively pub and hotel right in the heart of Chichester. Perfect for shopping or sightseeing.
We had a lovely, spacious room with a huge bed and spa bath.
There was a DJ on the Saturday night, a busy bar to return to after our evening out.
Breakfast was good, and staff young, energetic and friendly. Great value for money.
Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortably furnished bedrooms, en suite. Breakfast freshly cooked (not a tired buffet). The Vestry is a short walk from the railway station at the beginning of one of the major shopping streets and a ten minute or so walk to the Festival Theatre. Reasonably priced, relaxed and friendly.
The lady in reception was very good and looked after our every need. She served us promptly and even went out of her way to print map directions for me.
The room was clean and well spaced out. I will be certainly using this hotel/pub in the future.
The location is excellent if you are travelling by train, as it is only
5 mins walk from the station. The room was large and comfortable. The
breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. The staff were friendly
and very efficient.
The staff were great, any small problems were sorted immediately. The room was definitely hotel standard, cleanliness excellent, brilliant atmosphere and excellent food. We will be returning - astonishing value for money!!!!!.
staff were very approachable, kind and generally nice to deal with. Would recommend to all my friends, throughly enjoyable experience. thank you very much, also travel stay in b/b or hotels really good.
Very centrally located. Room very warm and comfortable. Especially liked local pub the fountain, which served a lovely evening meal and we were made to feel very welcome, joining in with the pub quiz.
We liked the location...our room was fantastic, evening entertainment if you wanted to join in. The staff were very friendly...close proximity to the shops, restaurants and the fabulous cathedral.
Fantastic location - in the heart of Chichester. Very friendly staff and manager went the extra mile to ensure we had a very early breakfast so we could get off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The hotel was very close to the train station and central to the city attractions. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the staff courteous and friendly and the breakfast excellent.
The location is excellent! Few minutes walk to train station, Chichester College and downtown. Excellent and abundant breakfast included. Helpful and kind staff. Many options to eat nearby.
Very centrally located. parking overnight free.pay/display day time.Other parking nearby.
Rooms decorated to a high standard.we were in rm 10.
Would stay again for the locality.
Cheerful staff, comfortable and well equipped room, great breakfast. Right in the centre of town. We stayed there to go to the theatre, which is within easy walking distance.
Convenient to bus station rail station &shopping.
Friendly & helpful staff,
Excellent breakfast cooked while you wait, also plenty of uncooked alternatives.
Very nice spacious and comfy room . Nice and light. Lovely big bathroom.
Relaxed atmosphere and staff too, yet attentive, chatty. Breakfast
perfectly acceptable.
Great location - walking distance to centre of town, cathedral, shops and restaurants. Nice welcome from staff. Nearby free overnight parking. Excellent breakfast.
Loved the location in centre of town a few minutes walk from the cathedral and on a shopping strip. Breakfast was included and there was a late night bar below!.
Atmosphere
Central location
Friendly , helpful staff
Provision of electric fan priori to arrival anticipating need due to extremely hot weather - thank you.
Bedroom clean and tidy, breakfast extremely good and downstairs decor functionally rustic. Accomodating and helpful staff made up for noise problems.
Friendly staff , help given with cases, room very good, excellent breakfast. Hotel suited us well for our overnight stop.
Very friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast - Eggs Benedict were fantastic.
Good location.
Room and bathroom were fine.
Everything was top notch from food to staffi there wAs dj but couldnt hear it in our room womdercul will defo go again.
Good value with a great pub. Everyone is extremely friendly and make you feel at home. Walking distance to everything.
an excellent room with a large spa bath. The member of reception staff who greeted us was very helpful and pleasant.
The location is ideal for Chichester and the nearby South Coast. Staff are friendly and breakfast very nice.
Our stay at the vestry was excellent fr the moment we got there and when we left
Defiantly stay ther again.
my wife and I thought the vestry was a great place for all ages. we would recommend it to all our friends.
Nice hotel in a nice central part of town.
Close to the bus & train stations and the Cathedral.
Staff are extremely helpfuland friendly. Great location for coast, countryside or city centre.
The staff were very helpful and lent me an umbrella which I had forgotten to bring with me.
Clean City - good shops - cathedral - the Vestry a comfortable and friendly place to stay.
Staff - very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Size of the room.
Size of bed and comfort.
Large rooms, central location, very friendly staff and good cooked to order breakfast.
Staff, the accommodation in general and the breakfast...10 Out of 10 for
the price...
Friendly, comfortable and the staff go out of there way to make you feel welcome.
friendly,helpful staff,
nice breakfast,room of nice
standard,
would book again.
the location was very convenient, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
staff superb and really friendly
really nice place to eat drink and just chill.
Loved being in the city centre.
Our room was huge with a spa bath. Fantastic.
Excellent position in Chichester, staff were excellent , food was perfect!.
The room was very clean and well kept? The staff friendly And helpfull.
Staff were excellent and breakfast was very good. Location was superb!.
No lift / elevator. However, staff carried large suitcase upstairs cheerfully.
Smokers gathering outside of the main entrance used by the hotel guest, which would be hard to avoid with it being a pub. Perhaps moving them to the away from the guest entrance side to the other side of the pub main entrance might be worth considering, but it was really only a minor point.
I thought the price of £75 per night to include breakfast a bit steep, but it is in the City Centre.
The hotel attracts the student/young population of the City with live music or discos most nights and we were warned it could get noisy, but the music does end at 12 midnight prompt.
The public car park nearby charges £1.20p per hour every hour, but the hotel will give you an exemption card which is valid from 6 pm to 10 am the following morning. After that feed the meter again!.
There is no lift at the Vestry and all rooms are on first floor so it is not so easy for those with mobility problems.
The only real negative was the parking.
When you are a stranger to the area it was difficult to find the car park at the rear of the Vestry, partly because of the one way system. Then having to wait until 10 am to pay for a days parking to last until 6 pm was not cheap, the only alternative a
multi story car park back around the one way system, but who wants to keep moving the car unless you are going out in it for the day.
Parking was at rear and I found it difficult to find.
Could be noisy with the road outside.
I like The Vestry and have stayed there often but it should be noted that accommodation is above the Bar and there can be bar noise - music - on some occasions floating up until midnight. Also rooms are on the first floor up a flight of stairs with no lift, so difficult for those with mobility problems.
Nothing.
The room was noisy with the bass notes from the bar below but all this
changed at closing time and thereafter was quiet.
All positive, nothing too much trouble.
Nothing springs to mind, had a great time staff superb.
Chichester one way system a nightmare. Do not trust your sat nav!!.
It was difficult to find the Vestry, but having said that, the locals were very helpful and the local postman. We had to pay for parking between 10am and 6pm which was quite expensive.
Wish I'd booked two nights instead of one!.
The occupants in the next room were exulting in a very loud rock concert from about 10 pm till I banged on the wall at 11:30 pm: very ill-mannered and selfish!.
We liked all.
Now, this isn't really a criticism, but note that the pub below the rooms is popular and hosts live music and DJs. Saturday night can be a touch raucous :-).
The loud music coming from the bar/ disco area until late at night, which seemed to take place most nights.
Breakfast served in the pub area. Slightly gloomy for summer, but
probably cosy in winter. Bathroom lacked shelving to put toiletries etc.
I mentioned this to one of the staff, but the only criticism.
nothing.
For others less happy to have a big night out, there was a bank holiday garage night on in the pub below which is part of the hotel. If you were trying to get some sleep up to 3 am you'd find it hard!.
Out of hours access to ground floor facilities obscured from both entering from outside end of evening and from bar area back to room subsequently.
The downstairs area turns into a late bar in the evening with banging DJ until well after midnight. Don't stay here if you're a light or early sleeper!.
Needs a better map when booking and an indication that the nearby public car park had to be used. The 6.0pm to 10am free parking is fine but not if arrival is at 4.0pm without prior indication of where to park.
A bit pricey for what it was, but this is Chichester in summer.
Had to pay for parking £1.40 per hour before 6pm and after 10am.
Pub was packed with youngsters on a Saturday night and very noisy - but fun if you're happy to join in.
The noise of the pub....but that's a pub!.
Can be a lively bar on certain nights (they are honest about this on their advertising). Best choose the back rooms away from the street!.
No elevator although the staff helped us with our cases.
It can be lively some evenings with the entertainment but I still find this the best place to stay in town.
Lack of car parking.
Having to pay for car park.
noise from bar and street.
The price once I converted back to Aussie dollars !! haha.
it was a bit noisy on the Saturday night, but we were warned about that, so it wasn't too bad.
the parking.
We didn't realise the car park permit didn't come into effect after 6pm. We arrived at 1:30.
We ended up with £40 parking fine!! (We just put the permit in the car without paying attention to it. Maybe the hotel could have pointed out to us).
Leaving.
The reception being part of the bar was a bit of a shock. It was very difficult to find and also the parking.
Room could have been improved by just a bit more attention to detail!
Window frames were dirty and bath rim and bedside clock were all very
dusty! Noisy on the Saturday night but we read that on the reviews so
cannot complain.
