Dating from 1155, The Pied Bull is situated within the walls of the Roman city of Chester. It boasts its own microbrewery and bar serving a wide selection of ales, wines and beers. All rooms have en suite facilities. Each is equipped with a working area, TV and facilities for making tea and coffee. The Pied Bull features an on-site restaurant serving freshly prepared food using locally sourced ingredients where possible. Guests can choose from a wide menu including fresh fish and steaks. This traditional coaching inn is located on the west side of Northgate Street just past the Town Hall and near Chester Market.

The position of the Pied Bull was perfect right next to the main street. The food they served were lovely ad they also had a menu for children with 5 choices plus icecream for £2.99 which was a great offer and choice. The staff couldn't do enough to help and were very pleasant and there was a quick service. Breakfast was cereal and cooked breakfast and was lovely. the location was perfect staff helpfull friendly couldnt have asked for better food great . thanks to all of you at the pied bull we will be coming back and recommending you to others .

We were received with great accommodation to our needs, very friendly and more help than we could have expected.The fact that it is very old. Lovely place. friendlyness of the staff. The location was good. Really a good old fashioned pub with excellent staff. Nothing was too much trouble. old world charm. we booked the 4 poster room which was very good. comfortable room perfect cntral location. location very freindly staff. the friendly staff. Food served in bar was excellent. Would recommend eating here. Nearness to city centre. locality. The atmosphere in the public bar and the cleanliness of the room. Quiet night's sleep. great building. location. It was really purchased as a base to sleep rather than drive back to Manchester, and not as a luxurious night of entertainment.We liked the ghost. The room was amazing, lovely size and the hotel it self had lots of character. Staff helpful, good location. Excellent value.God location..right in the centre of Chester. central location. staff, food,. Evening food value, and good rage of Real Ales. Friendly staff. Good food and atmosphere. building had a lot of character. approachable staff. Convenient to town centre. The cooked breakfasts. The parking for this hotel was ridiculous - 10 pounds for a tight spot int he rear, but our care was often boxed in by others, and this caused problems when we had to catch an early morning flight - we basically had to knock up every room to find the owner of the car blocking our way, because there is no staff on site overnight!. Close to Tourist area. We liked everything about the hotel really enjoyed ourselves. breakfast not great.Yes, there was a mechanical noise, which I assume was an air conditioning unit attached to the back of the pub which unfortunnately appeared to be outside my room. The noise was every on off all through the night. Resulted in a bad night's sleep. food was only ok. could have been better.no, but meal on the Sunday evening would have bee a help, although I noted you stop meals on a Sunday at 6pm. the mattresses were very uncomfortable, we had to use the bed covers to stop the springs attacking us!. Rooms a bit scruffy. check where car park is before setting off,. bed not too comfortable. Didnt really dislike anything as such. Could do with a facelift, but its not the luxury I went for, more the price and location for a night out in Chester. My girlfriend wouldnt have booked this but hasnt really complained either.The bed was too soft and I felt like I had slept like a banana! Also noisy from out side. Maybe double glazing could alleviate the problem if allowed to fit. Very noisy in room 3. A compressor or such like kept cutting in all night long, and disturbing our sleep. Poor service at breakfast. Unfortunately, renovations of hotel were underway and on one occasion, during the afternoon, builders were right outside our window re doing the putty around the glass. Their radio was blaring out and well, there was a distinct lack of privacy. Maybe the hotel should have not used some rooms on that side of the building during the renovations.no close parking ended up circling chester for somewhere to park overnight. No parking and door banged at night when trying to sleep. Unapetizing meals at night and badly cooked. A bit grungy - and in a very noisy neighbourhood = 'young' pub clinetele next door. In General, staff could have been more welcoming. Most uncomfortable mattress on the planet.., Cooked breakfast was pitifull.
