To the airport you can use train R1 or R4 from metro station Arc de Triumf till the second station called Saints and then the R2 Nord train (not south) till Airport (about 4stations).   We were really really lucky. We were given a room on the last floor (8th) which has a private balcony overlooking Barcelona and the Gothic quarter. The room was very fresh and clean and it was very nicely decorated. Mind you I am not very fond of modern design -- I typically like places from the beginning of the 20th centuary. I strongly recommend it! - everything :) the hotel is lovely, very clean, located in the heart of town. Very attentive and helpful staff. Plus we had a lovely terrace!

  I stayed only one night but I really like it and like I was staying for a long time...It is a home actually but really nice and really warm..I talked with Agustina who working there at nights and she was really nice and trying to help you(Thank you for everything Agustina)..there is shared kitchen so, you can cook your own food(its best way to sav... mitä ihmiset sanovat » e money for backpackers) cleaning was good as well :) I will come back there If I come to Barcelona again..Hope to see you soon :) - Staff was really helpful and friendly. There's two different guest houses in nearby buildings, one is rather communal backpacker style and the other is quieter. I was in the former (without knowing what I was getting into), and they were easy going about moving me into the latter. Good kitchen set up. The backpacker place was actually pretty nice for that sort of thing, just not what I was looking for (I'm a bit older than that now, and like my peace and quiet!).

  The staff was super friendly. They make you feel very welcome and give you many advices for your daily schedule if you ask. They provide you with towels for free and you can also change it if you need a new one. The breakfast is not luxury but at least there is a breakfast and for a few days it is totally fine :). Thanks for - Arco youth hostel was a fantastic place to stay. The manager was absolutely wonderful and helped us whenever we needed anything - from maps, restaurant suggestions, anything at all. There were many reviews that said that the hostel was difficult to find, but we had no problem finding it at all. It's right off of la Rambla and right around the corner from Starbucks! Great hostel and I'd recommend it to anyone.
