  The staff was lovely. Every single one of them. Although the entrance of the building was a little dodgy, as soon as you enter the hotel, it was a very nice, comfortable and home like interior.   My review is based on booking a standard room, so there is no option of breakfast in the room. The location and value for money is excellent. We walked everywhere on the trip, and the main street is around 10 - 15 minutes walk. Brekfast is served in the hotel based in the same building, not great but enough to get us started. The staff were friendly and spoke excellent English. The breakfast is good -- porridge, boiled egg, toast, coffee, juice -- and it's not a buffet!

  The past reviews are exactly as it is. The apartment we had was roomy, very quiet, well equipped and clean enough. It is in a safe area. Beware that 60% of the aparts in St Petersbourg have no private bathrooms and kitchens, but this one does!
