  The historic associations of the Hotel and location. The room was a four star one and was excellent. We liked looking around the hotel and finding out more of its history. Some reviewers inaccurately reported the hotel as being a prison previously. Perhaps some of the lower starred rooms may have appeared cell like but ours certainly wasn't. - Styl... mitä ihmiset sanovat » ish and unusual refurbishment of this interesting building, with its lofty dining room and various surprising features, make this my favourite hotel in Amsterdam. The waterside location isn't central, but it's appealing - and it's fun cycling there! - Intelligence and kindness of the whole staff, its library, its restaurant and its affordable menus, the design and originality of each room, the facilities offered to go downtown, the view and proximity of the water. The reasonable price of the parking.
