The beautiful house and furniture, the exceptionally kind welcome from various people working at Dar Nour, the experience ot taking tea on the rooftop terrace and breakfast with the other guests there as well... The hotel was a real oasis in a dirty nasty town.It was in the middle of the Kasbah and had a wonderful terrace where we could eat dinner and breakfast (cooked in the hotel as traditional Moroccan fare).

Friendly atmosphere, really lovely room, excellent food, total experience positive.Dar Nour is a beautiful hotel, comfortable and staff very helpful. i liked that it was in the heart of the Kasbah, and the guesthouse (integrated 5 typical kasbah houses into one large house) looks like something out of 1001 Arabian nights. Francois the owner was very helpfull and friendly and so was his staff. I would truly recommend it.Splendid location. Excellent, very helpfull staff. the terrace has very good views. The staff and food are excellent, it is in a great location although hard to find, but plenty of guides offered to show us, so that was not a problem. The Hotel is small very friendly and a little bit querky! which I loved. It has a fantastic roof top garden, with views over the port, where they serve a wonderful breakfast and beautiful evening meal - don't be tempted to go out to eat as you miss out!. A very authentic Moroccan "residential" Hotel. It is a converted home located in the Kasbah (seven rooms). There is no direct access by car and involves a 250 metre walk to get to it through winding lanes. Room was good - bathroom very basic. A great taste of Morocco !! Great value.The view from the roof top.. not comparable with the one from our room windows.. The location is beautiful and the view from the roof terrace incomparable. The rooms (we had two mini-suites) were well furnished and well lit. Breakfast was excellent. Recommended, but I suggest reconfirming your reservation direct with the riad.Staying in an old house in the historical city centre. I did not expect to have to pay with cash and had to go to an ATM to get more money in order to check out.they do not speak English, just Franch. The promised internet connection was not available and we got conflicting stories as to why not but saw that French nationals seemed to have easy access to the internet, however the manager was charming throughout. He and the owner were the only people in the hotel who spoke English which was tricky at times.I very much did not like the presence of the constant collection of people lurking near the hotel trying to be "guides" and baggage handlers, all at an unfair and unnegotiated price. Their only real interest was to see how much of my money they could extract from me. Owner prefers communication with French guests. Not very welcoming, but luckily this is completely compensated by his staff. Prices in Tanger are high due to lack of hotel rooms in mid range.had no access to internet. No credit card facilities. Touts galore in the area.Though on the booking site it was said they provide free wired internet, the owners, Olivier and Phillip, were not happy at all to assist us with this matter, one saying that he is not the internet specialist, the other saying that it temporarily does not work and they would contact us later on, which they did not do! Also, they did not accept any credit cards contrary to 'booking.com' indicated. Contrary to the information provided, this hotel accepts cash only, NO credit cards. Internet apparently not available. We had a confirmed reservation for three nights but on arrival were told we were expected for only two nights. It took 48 hours to track down the owner, who offered us a change to very cramped accommodation for the third night which was unacceptable, and we left.The spaces were a little bit tiny from time to time (when too many people gathered).

In a few short years Dar Nour has gained a reputation for offering some of the best Moroccan cuisine in Tangier.

Abdellatif, our chef, honed his cooking skills with the women who worked here before. Little by little, he and Philippe, the owner, have taken a different approach, and created new dishes which retain the subtleties of the Moroccan use of spices.

As our guests need rest and are on holiday.The breakfast table is available until all guests at Dar Nour have taken their breakfast.

Dar Nour is owned and managed by Philippe G.B, absolute in love with Tangier where he decided to settle in 1993.
Former manager of the Librairie des Colonnes and chief redactor of the local magazine D3, he is one of the outmost connaisseurs of the city and its arcane s.
Dar Nour is well-known for its furniture and other pieces collected in the Arab world over the last fifteen years, including bookcases crammed with books from many countries, carpets and wall hangings, old pottery and other items from the old Tangier. The house is elegant in its simplicity and in the history of the objects to be found there..

Information about the area

In the centre of town, Dar Nour is built on the 14th century Kasbah ramparts, facing the new town and the bay of Tangier. Overlooking the medina, the rooftop terraces offer wonderful 360° views of the town which have been used on the covers of several books and magazines. The front door at the end of a cul-de-sac where the writers Mohamed Choukri and Zouber Ben Bouchta lived allows you to enter a house with seven rooms, suites and mini-suites and two sitting rooms.

Karim and Abdou, the taxi drivers Dar Nour is working with can collect and take you to the airport.

Drive past the football stadium, and the Institut Pasteur (both on your left) and then take the second turning on the left after the Institut Pasteur (Rue Kacem Guenoun), a winding street which will take you to an uphill slope and an imposing Arab-Andalus city gate, the Kasbah Gate. Park on the left before the gate, as this is a guarded car park.Dar Nour is a few meters away.

There is guarded parking by the entrance to the Kasbah, only 50 meters from the house.
