The town was a quiet quiet place as it was off-season at the end of May and middle of the week. The staff, esp. Kato-san was sweet and friendly. Even with limited English, she could convey her meaning clearly. The food was plentiful and the tamago gohan -rice cooked with egg whote- was really delicious! The Japanese room was quiet and spacious with comfy futon, but the best is the onsen itself with an indoor and outdoor pool. Small and cosy, and we had it for ourselves. We had a lovely stay here! Especially because of the very friendly
couple running the place. The lady spoke good English and was happy to
discuss Japanese culture with us. She also arranged Western style
breakfast for us our 2nd morning. The Japanese breakfast was, however,
also really nice. Japanese style room which was spacious and clean,
comfortable futon. The in-house onsen was one of the best we tried in
Japan, especially the cozy outdoor pool. Good location near several
other Onsen.

- The hotel's owner was so nice and friendly. They provided the shuttle service from hotel to train station, and some suvenior. A little things that make us very impression that they provide us such as welcome sign specified the guest's name in front of the hotel on the check-in date, your shoes was prompt at the entrance before your check out, Japanese costume for your wear during your stay in Gero.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and they spoke English very well. We knew beforehand, that there would be no WiFi; nevertheless, when we asked if there was some place nearby to use the internet, they put a lot of effort into helping us, although they didn't have any obliations at all!.
Family run business. The owner is very attentive and helpful. I had half board included and the food they cooked with local ingredients was very delicious . Its indoor and outdoor onsen was very superb. I really had a good time there.
Staff was extremely friendly and always tried to help. The hotel was close to a lot of others so if you want to try out different onsens that is definitely possible.
The host is very friendly welcoming us when we arrived on that evening. Other staff are also very nice. The room is quite spacious although a little bit old.
The couple who run the hotel is super nice! They drove me off to dinner and train station! Highly recommand this place ! & in bed breakfast !.
The couple running the Ryokan were friendly and helpful. The Ryokan and Onsen was cosy and relaxing. It was a memorable stay.

The owner, Izumi-san, speaks English well and is warm and hospitable. I liked the personal touch, where the guest's name is written on a wooden placard and displayed at the entrance to the ryokan, as a gesture of welcome.
The hotel was around 20 minutes walk from Gero station and quite abit uphill. Best to arrange for transport if you have lots of luggage.
The corridors looked a little old but mainly just added to the charm.
Gero, the city itself, is quite ugly.

You have to share a toilet and there is no internet but since it was pretty cheap it makes sense there has to be some sacrifices. If you want a luxury ryokan however, this isn't the place.
The changing room is too small without heater and the hot springs are quite small without view.
