On just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station, Ryokan Asunaro offers comfortable rooms with a seating area and free Wi-Fi. The hotel features a relaxing public hot-spring bath and free yukata robe rental for women. The traditional decor of the rooms evokes a warm atmosphere with paintings by local artists on the fusuma sliding doors. Each room includes an LCD TV, minibar and electric kettle make for a convenient stay. Rooms have tatami-mat flooring and futon bedding. Complimentary bottle of water is provided in every room. From Asunaro Ryokan it is a 7-minute walk to the morning market, and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya. Shirakawa-go Village is located a 50-minute bus ride away, and the bus stop for the village is a 5-minute walk away. Guests at the Asunaro can soak away the day's fatigue in the hot public bath, which is made of granite stone. Also, private shower booths are available for staying guests.The ryokan features a garden and drinks vending machines, and offers bicycle rentals. The property offers traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast at the banquet hall. Western breakfast can be arranged with a prior request. Complimentary coffee can be enjoyed in the lobby every morning.

We really enjoyed our stay, since it was our first time in a Ryokan, we were very happy that one of the staff members could speak english and explain the basic rules that we have to follow when staying in a traditional japanese Ryokan. Also the image with the instructions of how to wear the Yukata were very nice for us. And also the use of the onsen was explained very well (also in the Onsen). I can recommand this Ryokan to visitors that haven't been at a Ryokan, because it was a very enjoyable.
kaikki arvostelut » The housekeeper lady was extremely warm, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the city and the attractions. She made you feel very at home. My family and I stayed in Japan for 7 years as the company country president and I aware of what is good standard in Japan. Best ryokan during our stay in Japan. Lovely building and very attentive hosts. There was a kid youdaka and my daughter could borrow a kimono for the local festival from the hosts. Nice indoor onsen. Highly recommended. we liked the family run place, esp the friendly staff though they were rushed off their feet on our second nite when the dining room was packed. so we could not ask about the food served. The entire staff speaks English - a rare feat in Japanese Ryokan and even hotels. The Irori at the lobby is very nice for a relaxing evening with sake, after a long day of traveling. The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make the place beautiful, it is a really nice place to stay. Really friendly and they try really hard to make your stay great. The ryokan had spacious, clean rooms that were in the traditional Japanese style. Staff spoke some English and were very friendly, patient and helpful. A beautiful Japanese Ryokan at an affordable. Big rooms in the traditional style, very helpful staff, excellent food, good onsen (separated by gender). The warmth and hospitality of all the staff, the fact that it was a real Japanese experience, the space of the rooms, the hot bath, the cute factor. Beatiful and real ryokan. Now, I can compare with others, and it is the best one I have stayed. Lovely public bath. Everything - espresso coffee on tap in lobby. Lovely beds and spacious room. Beautiful onsen. Education and encouragement to stay in traditional Japanese manner; fantastic food. Our room was beautiful. The location. Very convenient to the train depot and to down town area of interest. found the "toilet slippers" for use in the ensuite toilet a bit disconcerting. as am barefoot in our tatami bedroom, expected the toilet to be clean enough to walk into without having to put on these "toilet slippers" to enter!. No wifi in the room. Breakfast not included. The breakfast!!. It was not a really good Ryokan experience. Hotel was well used and more like a "simulated" Ryokan experience...more like a common motel-like experience.
