My wife and I also made full use of the free bicycles in our exploration of the main sights in lovely Kanazawa. In our views, cycling is the best way to experience the city, especially when you have limited time. Even with three mattresses I still found the bed hard but wanted to experience the traditional ryokan. I would recommend it for being near shops and many places of interest.

  Set right in the middle of the Geisha district (a good thing as all the buildings are traditional and pretty).   This is the best place to stay, not only in Kanazawa or Japan but in the whole world. Shaq is an extremely helpful host and this hostel is the epitome of what one expects of any hostel.
