The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I had to sort out a problem with the hire car and was helped with a phone call. We were able to leave our luggage until it was time to leave for the ferry. They made the stay very easy and free from stress. A very convenient location in the centre of town. The staff in the hotel are always friendly, responsive and ready to help. Rooms are nice decorated with an old-fashioned style. I would come here once more the next holidays with a great pleasure.

The staff was exceptional!!! The hotel has soooo much character. Great value! Exceptional spot!. style and ambience beautiful gardens, welcome from staff,mature hotel from a more relaxed age. Old world charm. Hotels central location. Room size ok and fairly quiet and linen clean. Kind staff, beautiful building from outside, good location. Its location in ferry port for an early ferry. The bedlinen. Nothing. It was close to the town and easy for an early ferry. It would have been nice to have an en-suite but we had washing facilities and toilet with the room. We had to work out how to work the shower in the shared bathroom so it would have been nice to have an explanation. The loo and shower room were both very cramped. Noisy plumbing!. I would have preferred to have internet in my room, but the free wireless internet in the lounge worked fine. Decor rather tired. Little parking in street outside but large free car park nearby. We declined 'French breakfast' at 8€, too much. No sound proofing, we could hear other guests moving about. Lack of lighting. The decorations in the room were in need of attention. Corridors were very utility. Maybe we were given the worst room as we were only staying one night and were leaving very early, before breakfast. Wi-fi Was useless. No coffee /tea facilities. Shower handle not mounted..slightly musty smell in one room. Parking close to the hotel was impossible on our visit, we had to park over 1km away. The hotel could be fabulous but needs a total refurbishment. General condition very shabby and run down. Wish we had taken more notice of other reviews. Old springy bed, paper thin Walls, because of noise levels We never slept!. The state of cleanliness - only the linen was clean - the room and bathroom needed a very good clean and total refurbishment. The smell on entering the hotel was foul - stale cooking smells (fish). The layout of the hotel - it felt like a dingy, cheap hostel rather than a hotel. I understand the bathroom was shared but the bath was filthy. This hotel did not represent value for money - not worth €49. The unclean room. The damp smell of the room. Dark interior and in need if a major refurbishment. We would not reccomended this place to anyone. Dirty shower, musty smell ,rubbish pillows we booked a room with shower ,unfortunately the on suite area was so uninviting that we did not use the shower ! we knew we had booked budget accommodation (although the booking details made it sound quite acceptable ) but never expected any thing as basic as the hotel D'Angleterre.
