Of all the places we stayed in England and France, we felt the most happy and comfortable here. The staff was truly exceptional and lovely, helping us with everything from ordering symphony tickets on the night of the show, to getting a van to the airport on the morning of our departure. We are actually a mother and adult daughter, neither of us had been to Lyon before, and from our warm welcome to smooth departure, Hotel de la Marne was a wonderful introduction to a wonderful city. kaikki arvostelut » I was about to change the hotel when i came from the airport by train via the huge Perrache railway station. i always avoid big stations where criminalities are daily routines. However, the helpful and friendly hotel staffs showed me the other direction where is 7 mins on foot to metro and the landmark "Bellecour". I am very impressed by the warm hospitality of the Lyonnais. Not bad and is worth its cost for a couple of nights vacation stay. Good location in the city center, next to railway/tram/metro station, quiet street, 15 minutes by walk from the main touristic stuff, clean, not expensive, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. receptionists are very kind, helpful and speak very good english - they were the very best thing of this hotel; great location in the centre; small "family run-like" hotel ideal for those who like those kind of hotels. Great Hotel with helpful staff and well appointed rooms. Lyon is a very big city and this is a great value hotel right in the centre. Don't be put off by it's two star rating - it's much better than that. The staff were so very friendly and their interest in helping me get around was sincere. Though I had emphasised not to have a room close to the street , i got a room with the window on the pavement which i cannot open neither during the daytime nor in the night. It was very bad to be squeezed in a tiny room without daylight. I thought the host should consider a bit of visitor's wish on the booking or at least give a feedback. I didn't check out the breakfast as in France it's usually not what I really love to have in morning (and seldom included in the price). Shower mount was broken (I don't like to hold it with a hand while washing), a screw was sticking up from the bathroom door threshold (not nice to step on it with a bare foot), common story of outlet lack (a single free one next to the door and another for the TV at 2,5 meters hight). we got a room at ground floor on the street side - so we weren't able to open the window; poor selection for breakfast. No mirror in one of bedrooms. no basic facility such as hot water, we need to constantly request from the kind receptionnist. Rooms had no air conditioning. Very compact breakfast. Room a little noisy. Room wasn't very clean Needs some renovation here and there. Nothing!. would have liked a fan or air conditioning as it was hot. matress was U shaped. Room was basic, owner seemed put out when I asked to see the rooms available for a second night. No closet to hang your clothes in or something to put your things on, just a small shelf. The window looking the inner courtyard, with a transparent curtain, meaning that you could not open the shutters, without being seen by anybody passing. Room too small No control over the AC unit Bathroom run down, needs a good reparation. Room having some smell from the time we entered. Old uncomfortable bed. AC unit was on top floor ( upper bedroom) but not in both bedrooms. The wifi didn't work. Small room, area didn't feel that safe but there was a police station near by, we never went out at night though. It took a little long time walking to the center. The other day a lady on desk was not so friendly. Size of the apartment. Design of the room. There was cockroach in the corner of the room. Very poor wi-fi signal. Room is tacky.
