Wonderful location and setting. Staff welcome was friendly and informative. Dinner was excellent but at both dinner and breakfast we found service and attitude to be mixed - there was a need for training of some of the young staff. Breakfast room was filled with overly zealous removal of plates and yet no one assisting with coffee and serving of food. In our opinion, a fixed $30 + buffet should still include some service. And speaking of cost - with no alternative of an a la carte breakfast men.
kaikki arvostelut » Situated in a national park there was good access to several short and long walks. No television in rooms was great, added to the peaceful, relaxing feel of the whole area. The option of cooking for yourself or a great bistro and al carte restaurant (didn't dine al carte) with wonderful food options including a picnic hamper for walking is great a great idea. Sitting on the deck, there was a wallaby less than three feet away, resting in the bush - what a wonderful sight. Highly recommend the re. The cabin we stayed in was perfect. Very clean and comfortable but still luxurious! The location was perfect. So peaceful and picturesque. Excellent location for nature walks around Freycinet. The restaurant was fabulous and the bar was great, lovely open fire roaring away on a cold autum night! The fact they have no tv or telephone and mobile reception was nil forced you to relax which was great. They do have Internet access available though for those that can't do without it for a while!. We loved it all! We had a premiere suite which was just stunning with sea-views. The facilities were top-notch (fantastic bath with sea views, super-comfortable bed, great toiletries, delicious nightcaps) and staying at the Lodge was a highlight of our trip! Great buffet breakfast too that made the most of local Tassie produce. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to others too! Well worth spending a little extra and staying at the Freycinet Lodge when in the area. The location and views are the best part of staying at this hotel. I wouldnt say its excellent value for money as it would benefit from extra touches you see at cheaper places- the cottages are fairly basic and decor is dated. Its nice to not have a tv but you probably wouldnt get reception anyway because we had a radio and couldnt get any channels. We LOVED the location and views, easy access to walking tracks. Buts its pretty pricey for what it was. We stayed in the delux premier suite and it was just beautiful. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and had the seafood platter, which was pretty expensive but by far the most delicious seafood platter both of us have ever eaten, and believe me I've had a lot! It was amazing and so fresh you could have sworn it had just been pulled straight from the ocean and put on the plate. Staff...Susanne on front desk was so lovely...as was Michael there too. Jules at restaurant, and Jimi...and Catherine from Nigeria. These people made our stay all the more friendly and utterly enjoyable. All of them were respectful and engaging...and fun (really!)...all were very chatty as well (and in saying that, were very conscious of their job at hand). Brilliant people. I was welcomed to my cosy lodge with relaxing music, the heating on (which was lovely in Autumn) and a welcoming letter letting me know there was a cheese platter left for me in the fridge. The accomodation was absolutely beautiful with a wonderful view of Richardson's Beach from my balcony - I felt like I had arrived in Paradise. The whole experience of staying at Freycinet Lodge is one we won't forget- the walks, the beach, the beauty of the area. The Lodge itself has been built to blend in with its surrounds,and it is a credit to the designers. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere really special to stay. When we arrived we were not in cabin near our travel partners. The young fellow (Lablin) on the desk was very accommodating and finally managed to get us rooms near each other (at a small extra cost but in a much upgraded cabin) Fabulous cabin!!! Lovely deck, view, layout, fit out, location etc.. The location was spectacular, the cabins were very comfortable with wonderful views and the beaches and walks throughout the peninsula were fantastic. Also loved seeing the wallabies close up in the grounds. The food at the restaurant and bistro was very good with great service by staff. Set in the most beautiful location, with beaches & walks close by, the cabins are well-appointed, quiet & comfortable. Offering kayak trips on clear, pristine waters, & short or long bushwalks, with native wildlife close to the accomodation. Located right inside the Freycinet National Park. Very close to nature, yet very comfortable to stay in. Great privacy, great room design. The music was playing, and the room was pre-heated when we walked in! Breakfast was great and fulfilling. The privacy of the cabins, location in the park. Late check out was no problem which was really helpful as we did a quad bike ride and got really muddy and needed a shower. The late checkout was accommodated. this place was amazing so quite and relaxing the views where breath taking ..i loved our cabin situated in amongest the trees so clean and roomy ..the staff in the resturant where so friendly just loved it. We didn't like being asked to agree to sign that we agreed to pay for breakfast- it was a reminder that everyone understood that it was expensive and we had no alternative!!. That we were only staying for one night! Wasn't long enough. Nothing - we loved it all!. Breakfast buffet was possibly a bit bland. We has this last time we stayed and it was perfect but felt this time it wasn't quite as nice. Nothing. The restaurant prices were quite high, given any vegetables involved a side order costing another $9.Inexpensive lunches to take on walks involved a trip to Coles Bay and fresh sandwiches were not available till lunchtime. Radio & stereo but no TV in cabins & no phone reception or internet in rooms (though this may be a good thing). Restaurants staff a little lacking. The dinner at the hotel restaurant is over priced for what was being served. But there was little choice since nothing much is available around the area. The bathroom was not spotlessly clean e.g. shower needed higher standard of cleanliness. Scum and build-up around corners of base - very off-putting. Cobwebs on wall and behind toilet door. Coffee at breakfast was undrinkable. Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. A disinterested female staff member in the bistro. Food was really expensive compared to the service and decor of the restaurant. having to leave :(. The slippers in the wardrobe had a horrid smell of fish/sulfur when i opened them, the shaver was cheap and blunt.. really bad music in bar lounge, nearly drove us out. also too hot in there. gorgeous room so a pity those things spoiled it. only one staff-member available at reception at check-in time (around 4pm) when four people waiting with various questions. Room was only half-serviced - replacement clean towels, toiletries and minibar items were not provided (we made do with what was left, which was OK). Not being able to get a twin room. traveling with my sister we had to share the bed. No table on the deck was a pain. The bed was slightly hard but everything else was lovely. The dining experience was poor. We were directed to an unset table with only one seat for the two of us, our table cloth still had crumbs on it from the last diners, food was overcooked and sides were finally delivered after we had finished our mains. The "Specials" board however in the Bistro should be corrected as the meals were not available for dinner and this was not mentioned anywhere. Too bad! They sounded delicious. Washing plates / cups in our room?? We do this in youth hostels and caravan parks but have never experienced it in an expensive hotel until now. Dinner in the Bay Restaurant was excellent, but portions were small and expensive for what you got. Because of a lack of value for money we only ate there once during our stay. Can't believe we have to pay for wi-fi. This is common throughout Australia. Nothing. Would have liked a sea view but actualy tucked within the trees. Try asking for a sea view if you want to book. Nothing really. Didn't love the Fish bone in the Salmon from their restaurant. Matt Preston would have said "unacceptable and for that you will not be continuing your journey in the Master Chef kitchen"... Nothing. not good weather for hiking. Bit of a carpark feel at the front of the hotel, but I guess we have to park our cars somewhere. vastly overpriced! bistro prices as high as restaurant which was more expensive than say a Sydney central restaurant; we had better meals for 60% of the bistro price in a high ranking restaurant in Swansea. Breakfast was good but I would like a green option added E.g. baby spinach to go with the eggs. No Mini bar Choice of 1 CD to play. Room location - no view. Room rate, package expensive and mini bar prices were ridiculous. Bad service at the main restaurant the night before we left.
