Very impressed with the standard of the rooms. The rooms have been extremely well renovated with every comfort. The George also offers great dining facilities. My husband and I were travelling wiith my elderly parents, Mum and Dad felt at ease from this instant we arrived. All the staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Well done to The George on the overall delivery of accommodation and services.

The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The adjacent laneway bar and restaurant was really convenient as well. Thanks George Hotel for making our stay memorable and fun, cheers guys!. I really liked the room and all the facilities. The room was also ready when I arrived at 10.30am which I didn't expect. The access to the station was my main reason for staying there, as I was making a couple of train trips. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed staying there and will do it again. The George Hotel is a superb hotel & extremely fantastic value for money. The facitlies are fantastic & the rooms are very comfortable & modern. Centrally located in Ballarat with all local amenties surrounding the hotel. Would recomend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay. Well planned restoration of hotel, provided all amenities, interesting use of glass throughout, good security. Staff willingness to provide area for private celebration of grand-daughter's performance in 42nd Street. Interesting displays of RSL memorabilia. Excellent, recently renovated accommodation. Very pleasant sitting on the balcony looking out at some historical buildings. Excellent location for walking tours of the town's historical background, and not far from Sovereign Hill. George's restaurants at the side way served very good foods. It is so conveniently located. Just 5 mins walk from the ballarat's train station and infront of the station was the bus stop for all major attractions in Ballarat. Well-equipped, clean and comfortable. Attractive, contemporary decor in a beautiful old building. Plenty of dining options within the hotel, and right into the centre of town which makes it convenient for business travellers. Spotlessly clean, such a welcome change these days and the staff are welcoming and warm. The bar/bistro is lovely with a great menu and lovely wines. Small lane outside is beautiful to sit and have a nice coffee. Thank you!. Loved the location and the old and the updated new, the laneway a very exciting extra...dining was great too..a very nice feel all round...the room tiny but very well renovated to utilise space... On 3 occasions when I first arrived I was slightly lost while I was finding my way around the place. On each of these occasions staff asked me politely if I needed help and willingly provided it. Everything was perfect. Staff were extremely helpful and very Professional in their duties. Room was clean and had everything that was required. Secure Parking was an unexpected Bonus. Room was a bit crowded but probably reflected original structure. Room is abit small. Parking was a slightly complicated. There was a bit of noise between 11pm and midnight- sounded like furniture was being shifted around upstairs, but other than that it was a nice, quiet and secure hotel. Rooms pretty dark BUT that's typical of inner city Hotels. One small thing, there was a sign in the bathroom, above electrical swithches, to put the fan on when showering but we didnt find the sign until we got out and there it was outside the room, so if the sign was on that we would have put the fan on. Everything on the ground floor, other than the RSL memorabilia. The Hotels Parking was a bit difficult to find but got there in the end. I didn't like having to enter the gaming room to register. Didn't like that we only had 2 days there. Needed to relax and enjoy this great hotel for longer next time. Studio room was tiny. Not a problem really, still comfortable, but we've got lots of baggage. Those who travel light won't have any issue. Price is above average. Not enough car parking. the bathroom which had a glass wall and although it was not transparent, their was no privacy in terms of anything people might be able to hear. Lack of natural light. The gambling downstairs. I doubt this will be useful to the hotel. There is probably not a whole lot they can do about these things if they want to survive in the town. Nothing. My quote was $136/night but I got charged $150 - didn't notice until we'd left. Really annoying. Complicated to check in and check out. Nothing. Check out at different hotel, early check out time, weird parking. Was assumed that because I am elderly I was there to play the pokies. Not so , and staff must be trained never to assume. car park in awkward location, breakfast not great value compared to others we had on our travels. Internal windows always make rooms too dark and the lighting in the apartments was not adequate. Lighting in the room too dim but then so bright when bathroom light on due to the glass partition wall between bedroom and bathroom. A bit noisy on a Saturday night with various functions and live music in the bar. The pool isn't actually in this hotel but that isn't clear in the description. Staff were fine in terms of doing what needed to be done, however, they lacked interest in genuinely engaging with guests. When they did engage it was obviously fake. This is unfortunate as the George has great facilities and genuine friendly staff would be an asset. Small room. Not good lighting. It was difficult to check in & out as reception office was not manned. All ok. Lack of staff to attend to any needs. During my three night stay the reception desk was open only once. Our room No 12 was very comfortable but for one thing, the windows were painted over making the rooms dark and an awful air c0n was still roaring at 10.00 pm!!!. No table and chairs for eating.
