  Wir hatten ein Maisonette-Apartment mit zwei Schlafzimmern, in einer ruhigen Seitengasse mitten in der Altstadt. Die Einrichtung hervorragend und alles sehr neu, es war an alles gedacht (Küchenutensilien, CD-Spieler etc.). Wir fühlten uns fast wie zu Hause. Die Mädchen an der Rezeption alle sehr nett und hilfsbereit - First impressions were lovely.... was die leute sagen » Clean airy welcoming appartment. Easy access to the centre of Wells. Free parking in the Hotel. Would definately stay again and next time bring the children as it suited us to come and go as we please without being tied to hotel meal times. - Excellent location, quiet, comfortable, well equipped, nice decor

  The Crown is in an excellent position in this lovely little city: right on the market square (some noise in the early mornings twice a week but the hotel provides ear plugs and the farmers' market is excellent) opposite the cathedral and bishop's palace. You can walk straight out onto the cobbled streets of the high street or walk around the peace... was die leute sagen » ful gardens of the bishop's palace. The Crown is very old, so floors are a bit uneven but this just adds to the character. The bedroom decor is lookin - I've stayed in a couple of chain hotels recently for business which were as expensive, or much more expensive than the Crown, and though the rooms were high end, everything else was pretty awful. The Crown is a complete ray of sunshine by comparison - really delicious food (and phenomenally good value if you eat an evening meal between 6 - 7pm - only 13 quid for three courses of fabulous home cooked restaurant grade food).   Hotel staff were very friendly and most helpful. The lift had broken so the staff insisted on helping carry our bags from the car (I am disabled through spinal injuries so not able to carry) up the stairs to the room. The room and beds were comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good providing you didn't have the scrambled eggs... was die leute sagen » but the sausages were the best that I have tasted in year's! Many thanks to all involved. - We liked the whole package really, the Hotel is very convenient for Wells, with a bus stop outside the door!!! As parking is horrendous, as is the driving within the City, this is most useful, with connections to Bath etc. Everyone at the Hotel was friendly and very helpful, the food in the Bistro was good and reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our two days there, and would definitely return. Definitely good value.
