Situated on the shores of the Kyles of Bute, Kames Hotel boasts original Edwardian features, home-cooked food and an extensive range of malt whiskies and local ales. Free Wi-Fi is featured in each room at Kames, as well as an en suite bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. Some rooms also come with a sea view. A hearty full Scottish breakfast is served each morning, which guests can enjoy with a view over the sea. Freshly ground coffee is also available, as well as Loch Fyne kippers and porridge. A bar menu including hand-made burgers and battered haddock is also on offer, as well as a specials board with the catch or game of the day. Kyles of Bute Golf Course is a 10-minute walk from the hotel and offers a 9-hole course with a picturesque backdrop. Coastal walks along Ostel Bay can be found 10 minutes away by car, as well as a sandy beach.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable and cleaned to a high standard. Had the best nights sleep for months whilst staying in room 6! We had dinner at the hotel which was excellent - I particularly enjoyed the Loch Fyne scallop risotto. The bar is cozy and well stocked with local ales, and has lots of other choices. There also a nice seating area outside with stunning views over the kyles. We had our dog with us who was also made very welcome. We h.

Out of the way location, fantastic views, very relaxing rooms to sit in, it's part of a public house with good food & beers, staff very helpful. The setting is stunning, with magnificent views of the Kyles of Bute, Staff are very friendly, room was lovely, breakfast very good and plentiful. We were lucky enough to get the best room in the hotel, fabulous view and comfy bed. Staff very friendly and relaxed. Would love to return. Stock non-alcoholic beer, which is a big plus enjoyed all over Europe but rarely in Scotland. As usual as a frequent visitor to the Kyles of Bute , I remain an aficionado of the establishment. Room a bit cramped, but this is unavoidable in a building of this age, but otherwise excellent. My husband and I were in room 7 - sloping ceiling which limited moving around in the room. The door to the bathroom grated against the floor (should be sanded down), plastic tape round bath had come off and left an unsightly black rim - should be removed entirely, or new waterproof tape replaced. no negatives. Nothing. nothing. No negatives. problems with lavatory not flushing, felt like proprietors thought it was our fault, though they did not say that. It meant we could not stay for breakfast nor keep the room until 11am as planned, just unfortunate, no-ones fault. No secure parking (though it's not really a problem). Lovely breakfast room but not used for dinner??. Trouble with WIFI. nothing really. no actual car park. nothing. Reluctance of bar to make liqueur coffee at 10pm when bar was quiet. Having to get up and get single cups of tea, a teapot on he table would have been much nicer. Ash tray by front door not emptied. the drive home. bed could have done with a headboard. Rathe than the brass rod type, gap between mattress and headboard. Very uncomfortable!. Standard double room rather small, only one small chair and tiny shower room/toilet. Bed. Double bed had squeaky springs and a huge sag in the middle. Also had a metal frame at the foot end that obstructed the view of the TV. Lack of internet access in our room which was on the third floor. No shower and bathroom door did not close restricted height in some areas of the room. Our room was small and cramped.Only one small chair and bedside table. Wash basin was situated in the room and not in the en-suite !! no proper residents lounge to relax in either.
