Due to a change in circumstances regarding attending an event in Widnes, we decided to make a return visit to the Cottage (previous stay in July 2013). Only booked mid afternoon for staying that evening. Phoned and enquired if we could arrive slightly later than the published time as we were travelling from Scotland.
This was not a problem and we were made very welcome on arrival.
Breakfast was cooked to order the next morning.

What a lovely find in the nice village of Hale it was superb in every respect made very welcome .A lovely cosy and comfortable room with a very nice breckfast,exellent value for money.hope to return as our son is at liverpool University for the next two years .
Close to airport. Frequent buses into Liverpool. Two decent pubs close buy. Rural environment. Family run. Cute cats, dog, chickens. Affordable. Excellent hosts.
Tea and coffee making facilities in the room (we arrived after midnight and this was very welcome). The owners were very welcoming and the bed was lush!.

Flatscreen tv in the room was the size of a dinner plate, the remote control was selotaped together so proved difficult to manage and the free wi-fi was non-existant, did not work in my room at all.

shortage of parking for all guests. (most of the residents could get parked). However local free car parking nearby.

Door on the bathroom wouldn't close. Didn't realise Liverpool airport was so close, so was quite noisy.

only gripe is the lay out of our room (the hayloft). No mirror at the dressing table and the plug socket very difficult to access. There was a very large mirror but no plug socket near it to plug in the hairdrier. So all in all drying one's hair was a bit of a challenge.

The water from the shower was cold even in my daughters room. Room not warm enough. Bed not comfy enough. Not much choice for breakfast.
No space for parking when arrived so had to park on the pub car park
over the road. While the bathroom looked good the shower was either
freezing cold or piping hot. My partner found a large hair in her
breakfast, declined to mention it in case it put off other guests who
were also eating at the time.
