The price was right, the age of this Inn makes it a bit more interesting. The room was big, had a nice sized TV, and plenty of space. A very basic room, but met all of my expectations. A VERY friendly staff made it even better. The food here was very good and the beer choices worked for us as well. We loved the ambience in the bar and the fact it was extremley dog friendly.....we never holiday without our dog and it was such a pleasure to b able to take her in the pub, eat and feel comfortable......staff were some of the friendliest we have found.....
alle bewertungen » The Castle Inn was located in an excellent position, close to shops and restaurants. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel special. Also the room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was substantial, and excellently prepared. The staff were incredibly helpful with regards to letting us check in early so we could get ready for a wedding and in finding us a parking space in the hotel car park so we wouldn't have to pay to park in another carpark. Next to famous bridge, good walks; shopping in town easy; large rooms; good amenities in room; four rooms to rent and quiet, never heard any noise from bar; great staff in restaurant/bar, friendly, personable; locals very friendly. We could not get a taxi to the venue we were going to for a party and had to drive and leave the car, on Sunday morning the manageress of the castle drove us to pick the car up, we found this level of customer care exceptional. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We stayed with our dog, the room and pub was very dig friendly. The room was basic but clean and just what we needed. The food in the pub was really good and the breakfast too. Everything, such a friendly, pleasant stay that we couldn't fault. Made to feel so welcome we might have been visiting there for ever, and would definitely return one day. A good central place in a beautiful area. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. The Castle is a cosy traditional inn with friendly staff and a warm atmoshere. It provides a perfect base for a weekend away to explore Bakewell and the surrounding area. the whole package was really enjoyable, food was very good, staff really friendly, room clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. The bathroom was large but did suffer from a bit of age there, a bit of spotty mold in the shower and the shower curtain was in great need of replacing. The mattress on the bed was not very good, and i left with a bit of an achy back - it was stiff and springy and old. I'm young and can easily cope. Not much we didnt like....the room could do with a lick of paint and the bed was broken and u could see it was obvious there was a wheel missing on the divan and it was at slope...however did not effect nights sleep... Shower curtain needs replacing; wish there was a laundromat in town, but most towns visited had none. Traffic noise early morning but then you are in the middle of Bakewell. Nothing. Its comparatively pricey compared to other Peak District places, but I am happy with the quality. The room and bathroom were not that clean underfoot and my room had 2 washed mugs but the bed linen and towels were absolutely fine and I was able to wash the mugs!. the reserved parking system is no longer in use,pity.could not get in car park till later in day. The facilities were basic and breakfast was not included in the published price, but it was advertised as a 'pub with rooms' and we were not disappointed. nothing. I would suggest an updating of the bathrooms. The fact that we could not stay longer!. Bathroom just a little tired but still fine. TV difficult to operate. There was nothing we didn't like. nothing. Nothing to dislike-a bit too warm in the room at night in the heatwave but this didn't detract from our stay. The bathroom was totally unacceptable (Room 2). The shower was unusable due to mould as was the bath. The bathroom needs completely refurbishing. nothing. Tv in room did not work. The bathroom was a bit dated but, hey, it was fine for a night at this price and in some ways it fitted in with the 'country' ambience. room is a little tired, could do with some maintenance but nothing major, overall excellent value for money. Bathroom could have done with a bit of a spruce up. (Mildew). The disadvantage of having to go outside from accommodation to the Inn. large crack in wash basin! Also mildewed shower curtain. The bathroom was alittle tired and basic. Would have preferred a pub menu rather than fancy food. If you push me, maybe a little dated. Didn't stay long enough!!. bed slightly uncomfortable. Bathrooms could do with some attention - very tired. tab ends in ash trays full in beer garden. Nothing. Room smelled of animal, probably dog,cobwebs on some fittings in bedroom.Bathroom cramped, tiling and surround grouting was black; really needed a deep cleanse. Overcharged for breakfast (£5.95 pppd). Room very dated and shabby. Light not working in bathroom. Poor shower. Room far too hot - needs air conditioning. Bathroom had damp on ceiling and lack of grouting round bath. Lots of bluebottle flies in the room, grubby shower curtain, mouldy bathroom, shower went cold and wouldn't work properly after one person had showered.
