I chose this guesthouse because of the beautiful flowers in the photos and the fact that it is connected to a women's cooperative. I couldn't have made a better choice. I was in Mardin to consider the possibility of pursuing dissertation research related to the local linguistic situation. The owners and staff of the guesthouse were so incredibly helpful in connecting me to people, that I can't imagine the difference had I not stayed there. Aslan, the owner, was courteous and generous in greeting us. He gave us
a choice of the top floor rooms and offered to send one of his
assistants to help transfer our luggage from the previous hotel. With
his knowledge of the region and, given existing winter road conditions,
we took one of tours offered by the guesthouse and conducted by Aslan
himself. With some of the travel warnings for the south-east Turkey, his
presence made us feel secure. We had considered going alone but are
