Prime location by the subway station. Room was in a perfectly clean condition with towel and clean linen (which were changed daily). The rooms were also cleaned every day. The owner (senora Eva) is exceptionally nice (and adorable). This place is definitely one of the best places I have stayed in Europe. Highly recommend this place! -

The host was really nice. Even though he can't speak English, he tried to explain everything and helped us to find some good place near by. The room was also quite large and comfortable for two people to stay. I would love to recommend this place to those who want to stay in Madrid!

Metro, and after some time fumbling around in the Gran Via area we found

I liked everything about this hostel. It is on the 5th floor but
don't worry because they do have an elevator. The place was recently
renovated so everything is new, modern, and beautifully decorated
w/TV and nice quiet a/C. Even though it is on a very busy main
street, my room #12 was quiet because it faced into a courtyard. Wi-Fi
was free and worked great. The location could not be better. I could
walk to Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace and gardens, Plaza Espagna,
and the Opera house. The

I've stayed at many hostels all around Spain by now, about 4 of them in Madrid alone, and this was by far one of THE best service we've ever had. Super clean. The price for the location is unbeatable. The Wifi was great. Outstanding service by attendant who assisted us. At one point I forgot my cell phone on the couch in the little lobby and he picked it up and left in our room with a note. How he knew it was ours, no idea. (Maybe process of elimination.) But so glad he did! Will definitely go

Extrem freundliches und hilfreiches Personal. Das Hotel ist eigentlich eine Mehrzimmerwohnung im 3. Stockwerk und hat eine nette familiäre Atmosphäre. Die Betten sind zwar nur 1,90 m lang, aber die Matratzen sind okay. Und die zentrale Lage (direkt bei U-Bahn-Station Opera) ist einfach super! -

Very different to commercial establishments in as much as it is a
converted apartment and was very interesting for us, a mature couple. We
were placed in a huge room at no extra cost. Very clean. Quite an
experience for us even !though we know Madrid well. -
The biggest bonus of this little family-run place is its unrivalled location facing the Royal palace. Staff are very responsive and punctual and the place has the charm of a 18th century building.

You can't beat the location. And while no hotel costing less than a
fortune is totally quiet, I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively
peaceful Madrid City Rooms was. The double windows did not block out all
of the cacaphony outside, but they did a much better job dampening it
than I expected. The man at reception was very friendly, and anyone with
even a little Spanish language ability will appreciate his warm
personality. Don't be put off by the rooms with their bathrooms down
the hall...

host, Luisa was excellent, helpful and very friendly. She was there to
greet us and allowed us to come back for an extra day after our train

We would come back to the same Hostal without hesitation next time we
visit Madrid. -
Loved the location, Hostal Mayor was close to major attractions such as
Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. It was also very near the underground.
Shower had great pressure and the rooms were very clean. In addition to
this the view from the balcony was also great. Over all a nice
comfortable place to stay, we enjoyed it and would recommend to others
