  staff didn't speak much english but were very welcoming and hospitable eg the gentleman at reception when i checked in took great care to make sure the wifi worked for me! and recommended a great breakfast place around the corner when i bumped into him in the morning as i was walking around. the hotel is recently renovated and was clean and neat.... was die leute sagen » local art work was particularly nice touch. and had wonderful view onto the city walls and the windows (with shutters) opened, a great plus. the wat - Well-appointed rooms in a Hostal that offered a breakfast option and an on-site restaurant.   Das Appartement liegt sehr schön an einem zentralen Marktplatz. Es bietet sich an den Garagenplatz mit zu buchen. Es sind nur ca. 100 m zur Stadtmauer von Avila. Alle Zimmer haben große fußbodentiefe Fenster (mit Außenjalousien), die die Räume hell machen. Bei Bedarf ist eine sehr gute Heizung vorhanden. Die beiden Schlafzimmer haben gute Matratz... was die leute sagen » en und jeweils einen großen Einbauschrank. Das Bad ist mit Wanne ausgestattet. Es war sogar ein Fön vorhanden. Der Wohnraum hatte eine gemütliche Sitz - Die zentrale Lage für die Erkundung von Avila ist super. Wir hatten einen fantastischen Blick zur Kirche, Stadtmauer u. die Plaza.

It is just across the street from the walled city, specifically right across from the Puerta de la Santa, with a restaurant on the top floor (that being the level of the entrance to the walled city) and lower floors given to reception and the rooms. Rooms are clean, wi-fi connnected, comfortable, and very close to the restaurant. Calling a taxi on departure gets one to the hotel i - Would we stay here again if we would return to Avila ? a definite YES. Value for the money and all that you need to re-charge from an intereresting day. A good example of "less is more"... Not that other hotels are worse... Hotel Puerta just wins with a very good balance between what is offered and what it cost to stay there. And the location is as good as it can ever be!
