  Great hotel. Room we stayed in was huge, spotless and very clean. The bathroom was huge and spotless. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, with an excellent variety of fuits and other staples. Good firm superking sized bed in a standard room. A lot of the original stone had been built into the deisgn and was well done.Very quite. We had a back room 415 and with the shutters closed it was silent. In summer if you wanted to open the shutters there is an aircon machine nearby which is noisy.

  All the staff at the hotel were wonderful, so helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautiful, has a lovely little bar which is open late, and a beautiful dining room with a fabulous view of the beach. It was pouring it down with rain when the ferry arrived at Stromboli and we were thankful that a golf car was waiting for us. Rooms are a good size, my wife liked the pool and to have a good breakfast facing the sea across a small road was wonderful. Three good nights in firm beds, great.

  The Petrara Resort is a charming agriturismo resort in Avola. During our stay there, there were no wandering farm animals except for a couple of cats. The pool is really big and kept clean and kids have plenty of room to wander about and play. We had a quadruple room which was quite spacious and very clean with quite comfortable beds.   The location was perfect - metres from the main street. Really good breakfast - just ask for eggs, bacon, cheese etc. Roof terrace was great, lots of sun loungers and not too crowded. Pool is not huge but fine to cool off in.and has lovely views. They can organise a cheap trip to a nearby private beach which was definitely worth doing. Bus station is about 15 mins downhill on the way home though we did get a - The staff where very friendly and always happy to help. We had a very pleasant week.
