I've been once before and choosing a Hotel for my wife's 60th birthday remembered Hotel Holt for its atmosphere, its wonderful collection of paintings and its excellent food. Of course it is also within walking distance of everywhere you want to go. The hotel fully lived up to my recollections and went down very well with my artistic wife.

It was so clean, and you didn't check in, you got an email telling
you how to get into the hostel / your room. I arrived at 2 am and
went right in and went to sleep. It is nicely decorated and so many
things to read to show you what to do. The owner called a bus for me to
get me back to the airport and I saw her eating lunch with some guests -
she is very nice. I felt very safe.

The hotel has perfect location in the center of the city close to everything. The apartment is fully equipped including some condiments in the kitchen. We rented 2 one-bedroom apartments for 2 families and enjoyed it a lot. Hotel staff was extremely helpful. This place must be the best value in Reykjavik. I walked into my room and had a mini-jaw drop as I saw the quality of the furnishings, the comfortable bed, the NEWness of everything, and a well-stocked kitchenette. Breakfast is a tray of goodies - bread, jams, cheese. They also provide cartons of milk and orange juice that you are free to use up.

Everything was great - clean, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped (wifi in room, kitchen facilities, ipod dock), and the bath was lovely. The staff were friendly & helpful, dealing with some of my tourist queries including phone calls to local tour companies. The location is very central and you can walk to all shopping, bars, restaurants, harbour etc. Most tour companies pick up and drop off outside the hotel.
