  Pousada Portas da Amazonia was a charming old hotel directly in the middle of the old historical downtown of Sao Luis. The staff was wonderful; breakfast was delicious set in a lovely outdoor atrium surrounded by beautiful tropical plants. Charming is the best word to describe this hotel, and my pictures just can't capture the old world ambiance... was die leute sagen » . - I really enjoyed the stay - the staff was great, helpful and able to manage situations that didn't necessarily run as planned. The location right in the historic center is really good to explore old São Luis and close to the boat to Alcantarra. The decor in the pousada and rooms is gorgeous and cosy. Really enjoyed my stay.

  The staff was very friendly and helpful. The guy named Rafael (the only one who could speak English) did an amazing join helping us deal with our car rental company (we had an accident coming from Sao Luis). He also organized our trip to the dunes. - Nice room, silent AC, good location.
