  We live 60 plus miles from the city and have come in often for weekends and stayed in numerous hotels over the years.   The room was nicely decorated and very clean. Just what you can expect from a new, renovated hotel. The room was somewhat on the small side (1 king bed, room with two queens is larger but also more expensive) but I guess that is common in NY where space is limited and hotel prices are high.
