My sister and I traveled to NYC for an event at NYU. I loved the location being at Washington Square. We walked to dinner each night at small ethnic restaurants. The free breakfast was a great addition- coffee was very good. Loved the look and style of the hotel. Staff was amazing and VERY accommodating. Hotel 414 was great! We visited in July 2013 for 8 days. We found all the staff to be super friendly and helpful. 1.Great location in Midtown, it's right near everything; broadway shows,public transport, numerous restaurants, etc.
2. It's quiet; we had a room on the 3rd floor facing the courtyard and there was little noise from outside, or, from other rooms
3. It's reasonably priced. We stayed for 11 days and the total accommodation bill was great for a central Manhattan hotel
4. It feels more like a B & B than a big hotel which I much preferred
5. A good continental breakfast was included in the room

I love the cozy atmosphere and the helpful staffs. I checked in a bit too early but the front desk found me a room nevertheless. The location is awesome, and not too busy. My room albeit so small, is comfy and clean, perfect for a solo female traveler. They even gave me free coffee and cookies on my last night. My check out was super smooth and quick.
