  I like the style, frankly the ' class ' that The Carlyle and that the staff exude. I stayed many times at The Carlyle in the 1980's early 90s, indeed had my wedding there in 1998. I haven't been at all since for no negative reason but simply professionally I no longer visit NY, but expect to privately will do periodically going fwd.   Overall, a great hotel, well situated to catch all of NY. Pleasant and helpful staff. However, beware of paying for a high floor room, thinking you will get a view! One of our rooms had a view of the Empire State Building - great! But the other has a view of the wall of the building opposite! However, that didn't spoil o - the hotel was ideally located. All staff were very helpful and friendly, and rooms were excellent. HOWEVER, beware of booking a high-floor room thinking this will give you a view. I booked two high-floor rooms. One had a lovely view over the skyline, while the other had a view of a brick wall! The hotel very kindly moved us up three floors, wher we got a view of........water tanks. So view not guaranteed! Supplement would be better reserved for those rooms with views. However, that did no
