  The hotel was newly renovated and was very nice. The rooms are very spacious and very nicely upgraded. I was impressed with this travelodge.   Excellent location, especially if you're driving: right off the freeway, yet walking distance to Downtown and Gaslamp, also just a short bus ride to Balboa Park (#7). Comfortable room with modern facilities. All clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. No breakfast included, but there's a McDonald's just a block away. Overall, highly recommended. (When - The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The TV was modern, sound and picture good. There was a small table so I was able to work for several hours quite comfortably. I observed at least a half-dozen fast food restaurants and one upscale restaurant and a couple of take-outs, all within a half-dozen blocks. The heart of downtown San Diego is within 15 minutes walking distance.

  Easy to find and a really good location, within easy walking distance from downtown. On arrival we got a warm and friendly welcome. We had arrived early but that wasn't an issue, able to leave car in car park and following the advice. The room had all the usual refinements but some nice little touches like swee - It was close to the trolley and I could take that to the convention center. I think it took me like 15 minutes to walk - This hostel is absolutely amazing, and by far the best I've ever visited. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, with helpful staff. It's located in Little Italy, which is a brief 15 minute walk from downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter. It's clean and has a very home feeling to it. Every day the hostel offers activities, both daytime and evening. Breakfast and dinner is complimentary. I was very comfortable here, and sad to leave when my stay was over.
