It was close to city centre, about 15 minutes walk. Cute little room with a comfy bed. Not a lot of frills, but didn't feel like anything I needed was really lacking. Had a cozy inn kind of feel to it. The staff was very nice and let us keep our car in the car park after we checked out so we could wander the city a bit. friendly people , good beer , cheap good accomadation , after reading some of negative reports was bit dubious , but we couldnt find anything wrong . the smell of the restraunt was unnoticable , the room was good , nothing falling apart as had been reported , we would definatley stop there again.

Ideally situated for 10 mins. walk to city centre. Excellent choice for breakfast. Well worth the price paid !!. i was pleasantly surprised considering they were unfounded bad reviews about the place which wasn't fair i enjoyed my stay as did my friend room was clean and comfortable and above a pub which was very convenient enjoyed ourselves a lot would return. * The room was spacious, comfy and clean. * A restaurant is available doownstairs. * Breakfast included bananas, yogurt, and chocolate cereal in addition to the standard corn flake cereals, toasted bread, tea and coffee. * The WiFi was working well. It was perfectly warm, central heating did not leave us cold. The tv was generous in size and had the usual channels. The owner/ landlord was very nice, and even offered to bring us a little more food when we were late for breakfast. it was literally 10 minutes to York castle walls on a lovely street lined with loads of beautiful properties. It was cheap with a hot shower, television, tea and coffee and best of all a FREE car parking space. staff were friendly. Good value, especially with the included breakfast. Staff were friendly and very helpful. A handy location with some parking and just a 10 minute walk into the city centre, the walled section of the old town and the Shambles. Staff were great! Terry the landlord really welcoming! Liked the fact that a room that slept five was five single beds. The Indian restaurant on site was excellent! Short walk from city centre Good value for money. All the family thought it was very friendly , but we did expect to see a ghost or two due to the age of the building,the kids thought the stay was ace and lived staying in the attic , spot on. Comfortable, clean room. it was a good city centre setting the staff were warm and welcoming a traditional british pub b and b. the cost was very reasonable and they provided a good continental breakfast. The staff were very friendly, also, brilliant value for money , my friend and i would definately stay here again, it cannot be beaten for value, and ideal for shopping in York. Unclear location of reception desk. Be cautious, on this site it says check out before 10:30, in actual fact it is 10:00. Some of the utensils were a little dirty, but that was easily solved by washing them again, probably due to the last people to stay in the cottage. could do with some updating. Unfortunately you can't help the inconsideration of other patrons who came up stairs in rowdy groups making as much noise as they pleased including slamming doors. Didn't get much sleep after being woken again at 1.30pm. Would have liked to have been able to open windows for fresh air, but painted shut!. Some noise from pub downstairs until about 8.30pm. Did not both us, but may some people. Nothing. Just very well pleased. The pub had very creaky floorboards but this is a very old building and to be expected. Few spiders in the room. Could have done with a shelf in the bathroom and a towel rail. There was no where to put toothbrushes, toiletries etc and the bath towels had to be hung over the sofa as there was nowhere else to put them. bulding a bit noisy, no English breakfast. Decor was a little dated. Very noisy road and band at night. (Did finish at 11.00). Shower was not very good in our room it just dripped out and had no presser. We would have liked to have a couple of chairs in the our room and a large scene tv for when relaxing in the room. Otherwise everything else about our stay was excellent. The decor through out was very worn E.G the carpet was worn out and the bedding had seen better days, but for me this added to the oldy worldy pub feel. Dirty table cloths. Small tv for size of room. had no problems or complaints would go back. Uncomfortable bed. The bed was a bit uncomfortable due to the springs sticking up in the mattress. Nothing. It could do with some tender loving care. The rooms could have donw with a bit of a facelift, but for what we paid, I would not complain. The room was very small and the bed rather 'lumpy' but we were only there for one night so it wasnt too bad. Early check out after night out!. No issues. very noisy, people banged on our door during the night and in the morning the people in the room below were talking loudly from 6am. En-suite a little tired and some fittings needing refurbishment. Breakfast was a disappointment and needs an upgrade. Noisy pub lounge entrance which female family members found off-putting. Common areas decorations very tired. One triple room was warm upstairs and would need windows left open during day. thought fan system in bathroom was a bit too loud but wouldnt put me off returning.
