Pleasant terrace in a quiet street. Not far at all from York rail station but I didn't realise this at the time so I got a taxi to take me to Briar Lea. [He did grumble a bit!] Once the owner had explained the location, I enjoyed walking the 10 mins along the attractive riverside path into the city. I know British b&bs and hotels very well so I'd asked for a room with a window that would actually open and/or a fan and - given the unusual heat wave while I was there - I was really appreciat.
所有评语 » The staff were very friendly and efficient. Our trip was to go to the races and it was great that the owner and other guests shared that interest. The breakfast was very good and although the room and bathroom were quite small it was very clean and perfect for a short stay. The location is great as within a short walk along the river you are in the centre and the railway station is very close too. A parking spot was provided which is a godsend. This needs to be arranged with owner but I was ver. Everything, the owners of the briar lea guest house are an amazing couple, they help you in every way and the breakfast was class, nothing was too much trouble, our room was ideal and lovely and warm, thank you so much briar lea you made us feel at home, I would recommend the guest house to everyone who wants home from home and we will use this guest house again next year, as it was close to everything. Thank you. Xxx. Great hosts: Room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast provided as part of the fee, and was very generous. A wide choice of options. Briar Lea is situated next to the Museum Gardens and only a short walk from the NRM and the centre of the walled city of York. Even got to watch the cricket briefly with our host. It's was brilliant and recommend to anyone easiest walk to the centre as well as a beautiful one with two choice of ways either through gardens or Along the river brilliant! And the guesthouse was clean the breakfast was really Good. Run by a couple they where very pleasent and happy to have a good chat in the morning :). Friendly couple, chatty and helpful. Could leave luggage to be collected later in the day. Very clean, but smallish twin room .But as we were only staying 1 night it suited our needs, a bed to sleep in. Breakfast was lovely, good choice and freshly cooked. Friendliness and helpfulness of Nigel and Norma. Room clean and beds very comfortable. Breakfast cooked to order and plenty of choice. Only 5/10 mins walk to the city (3 different routes). Situated in a quiet area - bliss. Will definitely return. Very friendly owners and comfortable accomodation for family of 4. Close to museum gardens and York Minster. Family room big enough for 2 adults and 2 older children. Very good breakfast. I will definitely recommend or other couples or families. The location is good, quite near to the York Minister and Railway Station. And the couple were quite friendly and help us with the heavy luggages. The traditional English Breakfast was amazing and delicious. Hope to visit and stay next time. Close to city but not central; clean; room not large but nicely decorated and furnished; lovely staff (owners) my husband didn't feel well one day and didn't go down for breakfast - coffee was made to take up, light breakfast offered. The guest house is in a good location close to the river and a few minutes walk from the city centre. The hosts were friendly and we couldn't fault the breakfast, it was delicious with a good selection of fruit and cereal too. Location great for walk into York city. Road quiet, owner very helpful. All finished by 11.30pm so didn't worry us too much. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Hard to pick something but maybe it would be good to have the option of a low or high pillow, as often found in other B&Bs. Room was for 3, so quite small. The rooms are a little small, not much room to spread out. The room was a bit cramped but there was plenty of storage room for our clothes. Everything else was excellent. Room is clean and functional, but a tight fit. This wasn't a problem since we were there to see York and not to sit in a room. bedroom and bathroom doors stuck but not worth mentioning at the time you have made us tell you now. nothing. Room was comfortable but on the small side. Bedrooms smelt a bit fusty, our room was very small, the bed was so close to the wall that it was difficult to get round. We struggled to get any hot water out of the shower even though the owner said there was nothing wrong with it. it was a bit hard to find at first and my tele needed re-programming. Very small bathroom, had to leave door open when showering to be able to move comfortably, and I'm only little!. The rooms are a bit cramped (to be expected) and our bed was unduly soft, giving almost a wobbly feeling. But overall it was a good stay and great value. There was nothing to dislike. Nothing to complain about. Reported a couple of minor things and they were dealt with efficiently. That we couldn't stay longer.
