A wonderful location almost on the beach. Very friendly staff and good food. A marvellous old building with a lively pub bar that was warmed by an open fire. It was frequented by locals and guests though the noise could not be heard from our room. It was an atmosphere that encouraged people to talk. We could have eaten in the restaurant area but chose to eat in the pub. We could choose from either restaurant or pub menu, and we much preferred the atmosphere. Our room was very comfortable a.
所有评语 » This is a quintessential 'little' Cornish Hotel, few have survived the ravages of recession and poor summers, but this is well run. It has a fabulous location close to Port Isaac, but away from the 'trippers' that you tend to get there. The staff are lovely and the management could not be more helpful. Walks from here are endless and varied, if you like the rugged Cornish coast this is a 'must'. Staff were really welcoming and helpful, particularly the wonderful lady who looked after us at dinner. The hotel is charming and quaint, with oodles of character. We were very lucky in having a room with a balcony overlooking the coast so awoke the sound of waves breaking on the shore. Food (dinner and breakfast) was delicious - beautifully cooked and great local produce. Excellent scenery. Plenty of places to visit. Friendly helpful people. Good Food. The sign of a successful hotel is when guests comeback year after year. This was very evident from the people we spoke to whilst staying there. Couldn't fault hotel or staff. A comfortable inn / hotel with good food. A very atmosheric and well customised bar and a very pleasant restaurant. The location is excellent being only 50 metres from an unspoilt bay. The downstairs bar has a pub type atmosphere and you have to realise tht it can be a litle noisy if you want to go to bed before 11 oclock. Limited mobile phone signals. Narrow road access into Port Gaverne. Soft bed. The bedroom allocated to my wife and I was comfortable and clean but ALL its windows looked out onto brick walls. Certainly not a 'room with a view'. Pity it was tucked away, & the outlook was poor. Loud bar crowd under our window - obviously it is the local hangout!!. Nothing, personally, though my friend was in a room above the bar, which was quite noisy in the evening. Fortunately it didn't continue until late. No phone signal (vodaphone) but understandable. Only one power point that you could plug a hair dryer into, no mirror making it very hard to blow dry your hair. Shower-over-bath - messy; prefer a shower cubicle. Avoid the steak - tough and tasteless. Nothing. having to leave. I need more stamina to go up and down the stairs, I felt they were quite steep. Probably fine for younger fitter travellers. No shower in the room, just a bath. Nothing. The hills in Cornwall. Nothing. Steep stairs which could be a problem with some people. No sea view only a brick walls from 3 out of 4 windows!. Having travelled 300 miles disappointed with room at rear facing white painted walls arms length from window. No shower..Moved next day to a room which met our needs. However, original room was not what was originally booked. Nothing really, but beware that stairs are steep, so if you have problems ascending steep stairs, it might be a problem. However this just makes the place even more special and cosy. Restaurant prices are a little high. Time between courses in the restaurant. Nothing we didn't like. Nothing. I had a lovely weekend. the noise from the extractor from kitchen. Too expensive for a 'pub hotel', long climb up 2 sets of steep stairs to our small room, inadequate shower (no curtain or screen). Extractor from the kitchen. Difficult approace. Frustration with Internet access in bedrooms!. Nothing. Food quality was not always commensurate with the price. n/a. Room wasn't made up as they didn't have a spare key! We were charged £5 for 3 "sun" papers! Also we were in the restaurant and ordered fillet steak. It was over priced at £25 and over cooked and the cut of meat was well below par. hotell a bit messy, slight smell of mould in the room, way overpriced not possible to swim at the beach. handheld shower in bath not ideal for mature persons. A cold draft blowing through a wooden partition at the head of the bed giving a stiff neck, No refund was asked for, but a dismissive response when Management was informed. price was a bit high for stay , if it was not for Doc Martin programme the price may be lower.
