Balgowan House is a gorgeous Edwardian home in the gentrified area of Dundee, where the Jute barons built their houses. It overlooks the Botanic Gardens and Tay estuary and has been beautifully restored by the owners. The stained glass panels and period details are lovely. Breakfast was good, and laid back; the room was excellent (it had a plug socket next to a mirror with a dressing table - other B&Bs take note!) excellent shower room with toiletries and very hot water. 所有评语 » I stayed in the 'Garden Room', which was more like a huge suite a sofa, small 'walk-in closet' and big double bed. It also had a lovely view. My stay was perfect, the owners were lovely and the breakfast was great. The whole house is lovely decorated with lots of attention to detail. I enjoyed the unexpected luxury during my business trip. Fantastic stay, Richie is by far one of the Nicest and relaxed owners I have came across My fiancée was in Dundee for knee operation and Richie assured me that I could come and go as I pleased and understood completely Breakfast was brilliant, a very relaxed and calming atmosphere at the Balgowan, so much so that you feel like your at home. The house is beautifully presented and the room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. A plentiful supply of tea/coffee on the hospitality tray. The owner was welcoming. We needed to leave before breakfast which was a great shame as it sounded like a feast.I would definitely recommend and would book again if visiting the area. My partner was having a knee operation.I was able to check in earlier and I had to change my booking at short notice to both of us staying as he got out the same day, which was no problem. Stunning view.There was a very relaxed atmosphere at Balgowan House. Richie made us very welcome. We would definately stay there again. Warm friendly host creating a home from home experience. Rooms are all large and well decorated to a high standard. The views out of some of the four bedrooms are spectacular. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and the eggs are fresh from their own hens. Nothing appeared too much bother. My room was comfortable with an outstanding view across the Tay Estuary. The house itself was a lovely reminder of a bygone era. The proprietors and staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were all that I required. I'd stay there again if I'm ever back in Dundee. Centrally located, beautifully designed and restored, with lovely original features. Spacious rooms, spotlessly clean and yet family run with a tiny new baby and a relaxed friendly dog. This isn't just aimed at Balgowan, but the whole of Scotland - with your marmalade heritage, why do you all put little packs of vile Robertson's jams and marmalade on the table? Hunt down a local supplier and put a big jar of the stuff out - we'll do the rest!. There was nothing I didn't like. No negatives or let downs. Slight booking problem when we arrived, although this was sorted with the minimum of fuss and, for one night only, alternative accommodation was arranged. Also to smooth the glitch chocolates were provided! A fruit alternative for breakfast should be available. Nothing comes to mind. I was concerned about the tight check in times, but this concern turned out to be unfounded, and more a point of essential organisation, which is easily sorted on arrival. Nothing!. Nothing. Not a poor word to say about Balgowan House. Nothing!. Didn't have the time to stay longer. There was some traffic noise from the road. Breakfast cereals and fruit were skimpy. Nothing negative to say. Nothing!. No comments. N/A. Bit a long walk into Dundee. The breakfast is too simple, compared to other B&B we stayed in Scotland. Nothing. Lack of surfaces in bathroom to place anything on. Lack of any type of fruit at breakfast and less than generous portions of cooked breakfast. didnt like the fact that we only could stay 1 night. breakfast only starts at 7.30, should be 7 most people start at work at 8. Nothing. Highly recommended for a stay in Dundee. Lack of receptionist and staffing. Nothing. Nothing.
