Stayed in a spacious, relaxing and very comfortable suite. We loved the decor and furnishings too. Once we had settled in, a fresh flower arrangement was delivered to our room. That was a nice touch. Staff were very helpful and friendly, Wine was reasonably priced. There were ample dishes to choose from the menu. Daily specials were offered too. It was in an ideal location for planning trips out. The hotel is being renovated gradually. A lot of thought, time and care has gone into making this a.
所有评语 » We liked everything about it, the hotel was ideal for us, very comfortable and spacious rooms. the food was extremely good and a very varied menu. the staff were very professional and attentive to our needs, even the locals that popped in we got to know. We spent three nights at woodlands and would have loved to have stayed longer. The food was very good and the menu was varied enough for choice but not to too big to make selection difficult. Breakfast was very good. The staff were very switched on and the accommodation in the new wing was comparable to some good London hotels I have stayed in. If in the Dumfries area I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The staff couldn't do enough to please us and the suite we were allocated was superb. The food on offer was basic but well cooked and presented. As a family run hotel I hope they can eventually finish the expansion and refurbishment as what they have done to date is to a very high standard. Beautiful hotel with very friendly atmosphere. A home from home. A real pleasure to stay at. Very helpful staff. Locals very friendly which made for delightful stay. The semi resident dog Lucy at to the feel if a family orientated retreat. The outside view of the rear and side of Hotel is of a derelict or half finished building .The building fabric lacks maintenance which is a shame because it looks to have been a fine old nineteenth century house which has been neglected . Building work, but that's progress.. The dining areas lack a feeling of permanency. The walls are painted, but no pictures. The tables and chairs are of the type you can move easily and stack. Not meant for fine dining. The hotel has potential but is not living up to it. Having to leave after the two days were over!!. Shame about ugly building nearby and no view and no walks in grounds . Also decor was terrible again ashame as it was obviously once a lovely house. No sitting room was an issue. Bar dreary. no toilet roll holder in bathroom loo rolls placed directly behind the loo, not lady friendly!. Not much to do in the immediate area No TV in the lounge. The public rooms were a bit old fashioned and the 'link' between these and the bedrooms felt very dated. The construction of a new extension detracted from the appearance of the hotel but not from my stay (i.e. I don't think there was any work going on it was just a visual thing). Dining room/lounge could be more comfortable. there was absolutely nothing not to like....xcellent....will recommend to all and sundry...rock on'. Nothing. The unfinished hotel extension is an ugly sight The corridor from reception to the new accommodation wing needs heating. nothing. There is not asingle thing I could possibly critiscise...we will definitely go there again. Nothing that I didn't like. It's a work in progress. The rooms are 5*, the facilities 3*. The bar and restaurant are no where near as excellent as the rooms themselves. Also......no wifi and virtually no mobile signal. Can't think of a thing. Unfinished extension spoiled the views. The wi-fi did not work in the room and was very slow at times in the resturant. Construction work looks unsightly, though doesn't affect stay. dining room looking a bit tired could do with a makeover. Unfinished renovations. No outdoor seating. n/a. Building work at side of hotel a bit of an eyesore but shouldn't put people off. Nothing. nothing. Breakfast eggs were over salted and bacon not of the highest quality. Nothing. Part completed function suite structure ruined view from room. Its a shame the building works are still underway, but this didnt spoil our stay. Need to work on their breakfast, cooked OK, Continental poor, no fruit, yogurt or pastries, just cereal and toast.
