This was a great 'experience' hotel - we stayed because of the heritage associated with it. An old colonial hotel which is a little crumbly around the edges but not too much and has lots of period features like an old fashioned cage lift etc. Nice garden area, and bar and a veyr swanky reception area with wifi. The staff were very helpful too. The location is fantastic, being right beside Kandy lake and across the road from the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Great! I would recommend this hotel for .
所有评语 » Excellent location, just outside Temple of tooth and facing lake which makes your stay in that location best, hotel is located in centre of the Kandy from where everything is reachable within minutes. Hotel facility and food was nice, staff is humble and friendly.Hotel gives feeling of heritage place and interior is so much from British Era which makes this hotel look like a palace, wooden flooring and antique interior is nice. We liked the fact that The Queens was an "old fashioned" hotel that still maintained the appearances of yesteryear - polished boards, an antique lift, ample spaces and a comfortable lobby. Staff were helpful and attentive and the breakfasts were great! It was NOT a soulless, featureless lego cube of a hotel! Great location. The hotel was a haven of relaxation and luxury within a very busy bustling city which allowed us to participate in the hectic schedule but with the knowledge that we could always return. Despite the chaos outside being sat by the pool made you feel you were miles away from anywhere. From what we had read in reviews, it totally exceeded our expectations. Rooms were spacious, clean and had real old-world charm with antique furniture and at the same time were comfortable with AC and all other facilities. We also had a beautiful view of the lake. if you are up to Kandy for 2 days max. THIS IS THE HOTEL TO BOOK. and am serious. its 3 steps away from the temple of tooth. and 2 mins walk from the traditional Kandyan dance theatre. overlooking the Kandy Lake !!! Breakfast was splendid - the bacon is perect. very historical colonial design. even have the old traditional elevator. very friendly staff, very patient to have photos with us. facility is quite great, have swimming pool and nice buffet breakfast and bars and shops. What a beautiful hotel! A colonial style restored building, you feel like you suddenly jumped into a Casablanca-like movie...a beacon of light in Kandy. And it's literally 2 min walking to the Temple of the Tooth Relic!. Ideal location for town centre and visits to temple and dancing only over the road. Was a good place to acclimatise to life in sri lanka following the long flight. Good place for 2 or 3 days. - great location - friendly staff - feel the glory of passed times - price/quality is excellent - Ask for a room at the back side because of traffic, bird and temple noise on the front. This hotel was full of old world charm and is named because the Queen of England stayed there once. It has a great location facing the lake, but in the middle of the city. Location just in the centre next to Buddha Temple complex,nice swimming pool,very professional kind and helpful staff solving all inquiries, wide choice of great food. Location , Staff , Food is excellent. It is a Victorian period hotel with Victorian furniture, wooden floors but ensuite bathroom and split aircon, old style lift. Lovely hotel with great rooms and a big swimming pool. Positioned on Kandy Lake, and just a short walking distance from the temple of the Sacred Tooth. Great location opposite the Temple of the Tooth and the Lake. Swimming pool although surrounding area in need of re-furbishing. You can't beat the location.... Awesome hotel. Good location. A nice (if slightly tired) Colonial Style Hotel in the best spot in Kandy, plumb centre and lakeside. It's good value and steeped in History. The staff were warm , welcoming and friendly, - it's not the height of luxury but if that is what you are looking for you probably won't be visiting Kandy soon anyways !! the best place we found to eat was just around the corner in a little local café called Midland Café. Good curries and Hoppers, and if you are skinny you can even get a seat on the fir. The well done renovation of an historic hotel. Wonderful high ceilings. Up-to-date bathrooms with pleasant selection of amenities.The included breakfast buffet was a treat after the limited offerings from smaller guest houses. In the heart of the Kandy city, facing Kandy lake and 3 minute walk away from sacred temple of tooth. Having a 150 years long proud history. Breakfast and service at restaurant is quite good. Perfect location, center of town, just across from the Temple of the Sacred tooth. The rooms are spacy and have high ceilings. The bathroom was little odd, with a shower inside a VERY tall freestanding bath, which was hard to get in and out of. It could be better in that respect. The staff kept 're-directing' us to a travel agent at a desk in reception when we asked for travel info. I felt like they were on commission, but we didn't let it bother us much. It wouldn't put me off recommending this hotel. Movement of hotel staff in lobby area is disturbing at times as doors and walls are not sound proof, even furniture movements from next or room above you can be heard which makes it difficult to relax if you are tiered. The hot water was erratic, and the rooms were sparcely furnished. Mosquitos also a bit of a problem. Not much, thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd visit to the place. The traffic noise was a little overwhelming at times. Only thing I did not like is the Air conditionar noise that i found wierd. the hotel may need some rennovation unless they are happy with its 1930s look. (but you can live with it). a little bit noisy as it's next to the temple of teeth and the street. There are the usual array of touts and guides to dodge..just be firm but friendly. Food is mediocre. Slow and lazy staff in bar/restaurant. WiFi is lobby only. Wifi only in the lobby and very poor, narrow way to parking (scratched our car). Hot water supply is poor. It comes after about 5 minutes of running the tap and it becomes suddenly cold during bath. Initially given gloomy room with view of a wall!! Had requested a view when booked a month before, so they changed to one with great view of temple and the lake. Receptionist most helpful. Nothing really. The food, includuing bar snacks, evening meal and breakfast were of intstitutional standard rather than gourmet. The road outside was very noisy, even during the night. Try to get a room away from the road. Not much; the shower didn't drain too well. The rooms facing the kandy lake are very noisy since they face the main road leading to the tooth relic temple.the breakfast selection is quite basic.the rooms are old and need renovation. The bathroom needs renovation but was quite ok. The only wireless internet connection is in the lobby. No internet in the bedrooms. The swimming pool is not very clean. No wifi in the room. Air con very noisy so we couldn't use it during the night, common areas (reception and restaurant) very hot and could be doing with air con,fridge nor very cold. nothing. Smll of sewage occasionally around the pool area. Lack of discipline in staff - no overall apparent control and this lead to inefficient and ineffective service. Booking terms were not adhered to eg we agreed to pay cash direct as per terms but they debited the credit card guarantee instead. The travel/tour desk at the hotel, a rip off. They had no information from letsbookhotel.com about my arrival, despite me having a confirmed booking in hand. noisy, due to the heavy traffic and the poor isolation of the windows. No wifi in room. no Wi-Fi in room. not found. Bit Noisy. No free wifi in room. No. Street noise was impossible to keep out. Horns started at 5.30am, as the hotel is situated on a busy corner. Perhaps a room on a higher floor would help. Inside rooms over-looking the pool looked quieter and very nice. Building and its furniture are so aged. Need immediate renovation. Nobody will like the old fashion 12" TV set which only have local channels. Beds are small. So noisy when somebody walk on the wooden floor. If someone who actually knows something about running a hotel took over this place and did it with a little passion, this place would be great, but it is so neglected and worn. Makes one feel sad.
