You can get to Barcelona in 20 minutes by train.
There is hardly any tourists a so Badalona is a typical Spanish city with friendly people. Just be aware that not many of the locals can speak English

The hotel was excellent value for money. We had a little kitchen with fridge so we could prepare our own breakfast.
