  A modern hotel in a fairly quiet residential area on the outskirts of the city. 10 - 15 minute walk from the beach - we didn't see one tacky tourist shop in the area - but an exellent shopping mall with supermarket and restaurants only a 3 minute walk away.   My wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Colon hotel and would recomend this hotel as an excellent central location to explore Barcelona. You are right in the centre but yet in a very quiet peacful location just off La Rambla ideal for all restaurants, the bus tours etc which are a must for anybody visiting the city.
