I have read a lot of reviews of this place. It is an old building and is
extremely basic, no lift etc. However it is also amazing value for
money. I was on the fifth floor. It appears to me that recently some
work has been done. The flooring was new, the locks on rooms are top
quality. The bathroom had been re done as well. A huge very old building
means plumbing is bound to be a bit slow so sometimes in my three days
stay the shower was a bit cool. The bed linen etc was very clean and the

The personal was very helpful : girl-receptionist wanted to carry my big heavy suitcase to the third floor. I didn't feel comfortable about it, so she called man working in the hotel who carried it. The location is excellent, right in the centre, the bus station located very close to the hotel and the bus to the airport goes very often. The view from the balcony was very nice too.
Reading here not always positive messages from other guests, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and had everything what one need. Yes, it has thin walls and the street was a bit noisy, but this is almost everywhere...
Excellent location 5 min to train station, 8 min from bus station 5 minutes from fish market. Very central. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, supermarkets, fast foods. Room is as described, clean with high ceiling,.
Room was very clean and staff was very helpful. I did not have any problems with my late check-in or late-check -out.

This hotel is situated in the centre, in less thant 5 minutes you are in the centre and just behind the hotel a beautiful parc is situated.
Good location, very friendly receptionist who was willing to carry a suitcase up 4 floors and happily allowed us a late checkout. Kitchen area outside our room was good for making coffee, but mugs etc were scarce.
It was a great location near the train station and other things. There was a bed, bath and free wifi., with a kitchen available if u needed it.

The location was good. A quick walk to the airport shuttle and a 10-15
minute walk to the harbour. The internet connection was great. It was
the cheapest hotel I could find in Bergen.
The girl, Hanna, at the Garage Bar was very helpful in finding out what we should do, when we arrived to find a locked hotel door.

Anyone using this place has to realise it is very basic. Its a room.
That is it. But really I have no criticisms to make. If you want an
alternative low level hotel chain fine - but in Norway you will have to
pay a lot more than this place if you do.
There is no soundproofing - I heard somebody snoring next door :)I lived next to the kitchen and could smell all the cooking - people burn food sometimes.
There is information how to get into the hotel and where to collect the key on the main door. You have to collect your key from the pub called Garage, which is located within the building if you arrive out of reception hours [after 4pm]. This was easy, yet might put someone off. No breakfast served at the hotel, yet there is kitchen and dinning room where you can cook/prepare/eat your own meal.
No elevator. Fortunately staff helped carry one of my bags. Reception open only 10-17 and that was not clear when I booked. As a single, what would I have done if i had an emergency in the night?.

Some of the rooms are facing directly to the kitchen, so you have to pass through the kitchen to go to the corridor!

A bat is situated in the gound floor of the hotel, on weekends it could be noisy.
No lift (I didn't realise this when I booked).No hot water and it seemed there was no immediate solution.
You should bring earplugs because of the bars below and across the street. You can't really control the room temp at all. It was the smallest, most bare bones room I've ever had but it was all I needed.

Very loud music from the hotel bands on the weekend. You can hear people
speaking from other floors through the air ducts. The exterior of the
building is in terrible condition and the sidewalk was closed by the
police after masonry fell from the roof. The piece was large enough to
have killed someone on the sidewalk.
Wifi was sketchy but that probably made us be more active which is a good thing.
Good value of money if you have no place else to go and book in short notice.
The walkway is smell somehow which give you a feeling of living in old and creepy apartment. Toilet is somewhat ridiculous to see.
No evening reception, you had to check in with the bar next door which was not to bad because I paid in advance but my room was above that same bar and they partyed late.

actually it is very ok for this price in Bergen.
We had a room facing the main road which was a bit noisy, also the bar downstairs played loud music. Our room was on the 4th floor and the was no lift. Wifi was only available in the lobby.
1. The room is cold even the heater is on.
2. There has no hair dryer.
3. bathroom is totally unbelievable inconvenient for using.

Five floor walk-up. Lack of staff. The promised WiFi did not work.
The service was pretty poor. The woman at the desk seemed to have no
interest whatsoever in helping with simple questions. She really just
took the money and gave me a key - the bare minimum. My room was 4
flights up with no lift. That didn't bother me really but it might
for others.
That there was no one there to welcome us when we arrived before midnight. And the boy at the desk starts work to be useful in the morning.
There was no notice that we should get the key at the Garage Bar, and no advance knowledge that I had to pay there.

Building is very old and rooms start on third floor and there is no lift.
Finding the place locked up tight and being required to visit the Bar at
the corner for assistance was very offputting. We carried our bags to
the 4th Floor, no elevator, there was a communal area outside our door,
the room was ok but the bathroom layout and poor drainage was awful.
Description should read Hostel.
Reception opens only 5 hours a day; you can put bags there after check out, have to rent a locker at train station for NOK50; no public toilet.
It's little bit unaceeptale follow the euro standard.

Fraternity House from Hell! Booked as an apartment with 2 rooms/3
beds, but it was 1 room 3 beds, nothing to present to colleagues Common
kitchen was dirty, worn down completely No utensils to eat with, when we
requested it they told us to go to another floor and steal some there,
there were no utensils there either No help upon request, only
"Cancellation & Refund offered" Taxi driver said
"This is not really a hotel".

The bathroom was incredibly small with the toilets in the shower (or vice versa). Very dirty, especially the common kitchen. The furniture was old and ugly. The beds were not comfortable. There was nobody at the reception when we arrived (at 7pm!). Absolutely unacceptable and by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.
Cost performance was so bad.
Not useful for family and person with some bags.
The room was extremely small and very basic. The communal areas seemed
to be run down. I was a little worried about security. The main entrance
door took some time to close after people walked through. There were no
staff around for much of the day and I feared some of the people I saw
on the stairwell were not residents.
