  The hotel's location was great. It was in the Gion area, a few blocks away from Gion's corner. In front of the hotel bikes are available to rent which is very convenient to visit the shrines which are far away. The hotel rooms are spacious and very comfortable.   The hotel staff were pretty friendly and offered great services for us. The room was really traditional and lovely. Typical Japanese Inn, in which I really - Some facilities may need renovation but the ryokan itself is very clean and comfortable. In each of our double rooms there was a shower and additionally every evening it was possible to soak and relax in a hot o-furo (public bath). The ryokan is located in the centre of Kyõto, near Higashiyama or Gion, but in a small street so it isn't noisy at all. The little Japanese-style indoor garden is really cute and so Japanese! ;-) The rooms are also very traditional and just a bit old-fashioned.

I think he waited for our coming after I confirmed arrival time because while we were walking to find Ryokan and almost getting lost, he called us from in front of Ryokan. I was so impressed. I got a big clean room with garden view and not close to the street so it was quite and peaceful. This room is what I think when stay in ryokan. Love it.

  My wife and I stayed there and was very warmly welcomed by the staff. My wife is pregnant but we found sleeping on the tatami mattress comfortable. Aircon works well and the room and toilet was very clean.   Very friendly and helpful staff. Exceptional service. Small details that added to the experience, each night when the staff had laid out the futon there would be a folded origami (new one every day!) beside the pillow together with a small text saying something along the lines of "We hope you had a great day". The staff who served the dinner on the room was helpful and took their time explaining what the food was and how it was to - Wow! Staying at Nissho Besso was one of the best hotel experiences ever!! This top-end traditional Japanese ryokan dishes out luxury and service like you could never imagine. From the origami and personalised notes on my mattress in the evenings, to the amazing breakfasts (different every morning) and stunning service levels ....always provided with a smile. This great property will be a key reason for returning to Kyoto as soon as possible.
