Vogafjós Farm Resort - 照片

Nice recent and clean bungalows close to a lava field with the volcano Hverfjall at sight and the lake just opposite the road, behind the farm where the reception and the restaurant is. The staff was very friendly and explain local sightseeing to everyone. The food for breakfast is excellent, the restaurant has a view on the lake with the pseudo craters on one side and on the other side to the cows being fed. Well located to discover the region. The Hverfjall you can climb in 10 minutes is just.

I am still amazed of this guesthouse, because it is of the same uniqueness, that also brands the whole area around it! The staff was incredibly helpful (they would have planned our whole two days in this area perfectly for us, if we wanted them to!) and open minded. The breakfast was very good as well. But the most incredible part are the rooms themselves: You get such a good and cosy (and also romantic) feeling, once you enter your floor-heated, wooden-made room, that you don't want to leave .
The location was fabulous and before checking in the lady at the service desk gave us all the information and a map about the surrounding area which was really great. We stayed in an economy room which was a cosy log cabin (quite a squeeze with two people and lots of bags!) but it was lovely nonetheless. The breakfast was great and served a vast amount of different foods and you can watch the cows being milked which is something you don't see everyday! Overall a lovely stay.
This place was amazing!! It was a bit more expensive than other hotels in the area but completely worth every penny! The little wood cottages with heated floors were so cozy and warm and the food was amazing, including the breakfast was the best one that we came across with a very extensive spread. There is a farm where you can milk the cows and the staff point out everything in the area that you can see and are very informative and helpful. Don't miss out on a stay here!.
This was my favorite guesthouse I visited in Iceland. The cabins are very modern and new. I enjoyed having a private bathroom. The breakfast buffet that was included at the restaurant across the street was the largest and best spread I saw during my week long trip. We also ate one of our best dinners at the restaurant. The staff was very good at giving us information about the area when we checked in (and we didn't even have to ask).
These rooms are part of a dairy farm located down the road. They are simple, much like you would find at a National Park in the US. Our 10 year old son really enjoyed getting up to see the cows being milked which you can see through a glass window in the restaurant. You can also visit the cows in the barn beside the restaurant in the evening. The area is very interesting with lots of hiking and don't miss the Myvatn Nature Baths.
We loved absolutely everything about Vogafjós Guesthouse. The location is very close to all the important sightseeing spots in the Myvatn area, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant/café next to the cowshed was an invenitve idea and you could even watch the cows being milked. The breakfast and dinner we enjoyed there were perfect (the food being produced on site).
Warm underfloor heating in rooms which were very comfortable with free wifi and had great showers. Staff were very friendly and the food available was amazing. Unusual restaurant setting with a view into the barn where cows are kept. Great location for access to the Myvatn nature baths which are far better than the Blue Lagoon (much cheaper, less salty and less crowded).
Really nice guesthouse (cabin style), with heated floors and beautifully designed interior. The proximity to the cow farm and restaurant was a plus, as we had one of the best dinners and breakfasts of our entire stay in Iceland. Also Lake Myvatn is just around the corner and the view from the guesthouse is not too bad either. Highly recommend staying at Vogafjos.
Very nice restaurant with views of Lake Myvatn and several local landmarks. The restaurant (the Cow Shed) is attached to a dairy, and you can sit at your table and watch the cows being milked and/or fed. They had perhaps the best breakfast (included with the hotel rent) we encountered of the 5 hotels we stayed at, although all of them were good.
The rooms are in timber and fairly spacious. The bed was comfortable and we could open a window so not too stuffy. Under floor heating was very efficient. Breakfast was included in the lovely cowshed cafe. It was a fairly basic buffet but used local produce from their farm which was nice. Dinner there was excellent.
Breakfast is a great experience! Located in a cowshed, you can enjoy breakfast while looking at cows. The breakfast is delicious too! The staff are very friendly. They shared with us the key attractions in Myvatn and helped us to book the Husavik whale watching tours. The view is also fantastic.
BEST HOTEL EVER!!! Very cosy, wooden chalets with floor heating, very good beds and excellent private bathroom facilities! Dinner is wonderful and breakfast buffet is copious and delicious. The staff is very kind and helpful; we got stuck in the snow and Jean from Vogafjos came to pick us up.
Friendly, helpful staff who also answered questions on the area. The food was great at dinner and breakfast. Great selection for breakfast with lovey homemade jams and breads. The room was comfortable & warm despite the heavy snow outside. Handy location to explore the fantastic area.
We adored this place. Very informative and helpful staff. Food at restaurant was outstanding, everything we ate being locally raised/grown. Breakfast was very good, even got to taste milk straight from the cows. Our favourite hotel in Iceland. Wish we could have stayed longer!.
Cabins are large and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with lots of home made/local products The view from the restaurant across lake Myvatn is great. Great location for exploring the local tourist attractions (Lake Myvatn, the Natural Spa baths and whale watching in Husavik..).
Best Hotel ever! Very very nice place. Great food an rooms. The restaurant is a "must see it"! We also had loads of aurora borealis, until we got tired...never would have thought that. Plus: I forgot my tripod in the room, they sent it back home, with a chocolate on it... Top!!!.
We were only here one night but we loved the rustic charm of these cottages. The reception and restaurant are across the street - along with a working dairy farm. They were very helpful when checking in - making sure we knew where all the highlights of lake Myvatn were.
Quiet; clean; nice-looking buildings; comfortable beds; private bathroom; free Wi-fi; within walking distance of their good restaurant; only a short drive into town for groceries and gasoline; short drive to all the natural sights in the Lake Myvatn area.
it was really much better than we expected. Very kind people, very high quality service, very good breakfast near to the animals/farm, natural food... This hotel was totally perfect for us. Really impressed with the hotel facilities and the natur around.
The location was great for exploring a wonderful area of Iceland - close to all the activities. The rooms were comfortable and clean - a good beds and a good bathroom. Very tasty food. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend :).
Great impression. Living on a farm was quite interesting. Staff was lovely, food delicious and a good selection. Rooms were from wood and really cosy. Little terrace to calm down. All in all we had a wonderful stay! Strongly recommend this hotel!.
- Rooms are just amazing, all in wood. - Breakfast with local products: cold cuts (charcuterie), cheese, etc. - Staff is helpful and laid back. - You can see caws while eating, a bit smelly but entertaining (they are packed behind windows).
We are family of 4 (parents + 2 adults). We stayed two nights at Vogafjos. We had one family room (one room with double bed + 2 singles). Very rich breakfast (you can also have fresh milk directly from the cow). Very welcoming service.
Warm and comfortable. Excellent restaurant and a fantastic breakfast which was included in the price. The restaurant is to the side of a cowshed and it was possible to see the cows being milked.
Great comfortable rooms, excellent staff, wonderful idea and concept. Food at the restaurant was some of the best I've had, would go back again and stay here - Mytavn is a great place.
It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The restaurant associated with the guesthouse was wonderful. The breakfast was great as well as the dinners - the best in Myvatn. Great.
- very nice rooms - great breakfast (try the home smokes Salmon and Hangikjött and the home made Geysir bread ==> phantstic) - fantastic dinner - everything was great Takk Fyrir.
we really enjoyed your cafe and the milk-shed proximity is shear genius. So much to do in area that we realized too late that we should have stayed an additional day.
Really lovely hotel! Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Amayzing breakfast and food (rear optoin in Iceland), mostly made from product from this and nextdor farms.
Great rooms and location. Staff very friendly and provided lots of information on what to see and do in the area. Cow shed cafe is great for a taste of farm life.
Perfect location - You can easily reach the Myvatn Lake, you can observe birds or just enjoy your time in the local spa. And the restaurant is just amazing.
Great location. Our room was clean and well-kept. Reception staff was very knowledgeable about things to do in the area. Terrific breakfast buffet.
The Cowshed restaurant was very good. Getting there for milking is highly recommended - the guys answered all my kids' questions and were lovely.
Beautiful cafe with a delicious breakfast. Views over the lake and great hikes all around. Room was comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Knowledgeable staff. Excellent location. Comfortable clean spacious rooms with ensuite facilities. Interesting dining area, and good local food.
The cute French lady who served breakfast and the helpful receptionist who helped us organise our days and fed us fresh milk from the cows!.
Country feel location Selection of food at breakfast was brilliant. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.
Cuisine at Vogafjos was delicious, this place is very cute, well situated to the Mivatn Lake. Liked staying there a lot.
The cafe and reception in the milking barn was so fun. The breakfast buffet was exceptional lots of homemade stuff.
Close Proximity to everything around the lake. The rooms are all wood with few seams, tremendous and heated floors.
Best breakfast we had in Iceland and one of the best I ever had. Room is also great. Nice place to treat yourself.
The wooden guest houses. The lamb shank at the restaurant. Friendly staffs with good knowledge around the area.
Wonderful, cute rooms in the cottage like guesthouse. Nice restaurant. Close to everything in Myvatn!.
Clean rooms with excellent beds. Perfect breakfast and very good dinner in the farmers-restaurant.
Cowshed cafe is a must do - great food, views, and atmosphere! Accomodation was clean and tidy.
everything, the location, the dinner, the breakfast, the cleanness, very well worth the price.
This place is a wonderful oasis in the middle of gorgeous Iceland mountains. We will be back.
Ambiance was great, rooms spacious and clean! Absolutely loved this hotel. Would stay again!.
The room is nice and spacious, great location in Myvatn, reasonable price and very clean :).
Nothing. People complaining about the sulfuric smells of the showers haven't understood where the water comes from in this region...
The walls were very thin and the neighbour behind us kept us awake all night with his snoring which was a shame.
I specifically noted that I was traveling with my husband and requested a double bed. We received two twin beds and had to push them together. Not quite the same thing as a double bed.
The only thing that we would like to mention is that the rooms were a bit too small to store all of our luggage easily (had to store it under the bed).
No fridge to store food when basing your holiday on self catering Evening meals are delicious but a little expensive and there are not many alternative restaurants to go to.
The rooms are small, even by Icelandic standards, but clean and tidy.
The bathroom was small and the exhaust hardly worked to eliminate the sulphur fumes from the hot water. The walls were very thin so every noise could be heard from the room next door. The lady at reception was not particularly welcoming but gave us a run down of everything that could be done in the area.
While a small issue, the rooms are in cottages which are located 2 minutes' drive away from the reception / cowshed. The rooms are also not quite soundproof.
Nome.
two natural things not under control of the guesthouse: - the funny smell given off by the hot water; - the billions of little insects (mosquitos or tiny flies) they don't sting but are very annoying.
No self-service laundry facilities. Description of place implies rooms overlook the lake, which they do not! The restaurant overlooks the lake.
It was a bit loud in the room as the wood is not really soundproof.
- The reception desk is difficult to find, you have got the rooms on one side of the road and the reception with the restaurant on the other side, barely no signs.
The room was a bit tight for four people (with all the bags). Also, strong smell of sulfur (you have it everywhere in Iceland, but in our room at Vogafjos it was strong).
It was overpriced for what we got. There were no facilities other than the room in the middle of a lava field. There was no TV but that didn't really matter. Even the bathroom had only a squeeze bottle of "soap" that was to be used for both body and shampoo. Also, the hot water came directly from a geothermal spring therefore smelled up the room every time we took a shower - interesting but unpleasant .
cabins are tight.
Rooms are extrimely small, and some of cotteges looks more like a summer pioneer camp than hotel. But it does not matter this place, it is lovely anyway.
The "economy double" room is snug. Once you get a couple of suitcases in there, two people can barely move around. (Granted, I appreciated the lower price.) The water smells like sulfur. Apparently, that's an issue with the whole area, not just this hotel.
The guestrooms were a bit sauna like and a bit too hot.
Unfortunately the room was a bit cold when we arrived and we were told there was a problem with the heating water, staff helpfully brought in an extra heater to the room and we were warm and toasty. Unfortunately this then tripped electricity when we turned on kettle in the morning. It was still a lovely place to stay though and would stay again, definitely.
No outside chairs to sit on, which meant we had to stand up for about 2 hours and walk up and down the road as we looked for the northern lights! The menu for evening meals had the same veggie starter as the main dish, which was disappointing.
A member of our group got ill on the smoked arctic char.
Too expensive, as all Myvatn is in August, but rather stay here for 200 than in another place for 150...
Nothing in particular.
Walls a bit thin, and a lot of noise at night.
Room was a little too hot. Thin walls. Family room was quite cramped. No major issues though, we enjoyed our stay very much!.
The description of each room having a balcony is "off," as all rooms are on the first floor. Each room really has a porch, but it's not very private as they all face the parking pad. This issue is very minor, however.
Nothing!.
