This was a very nice "Hotel Garni" on the outskirts of Essen. It was surrounded by nice countryside, an equestrian center, tennis courts, and a nearby river. very nice staff, close to city - The staff were extremely friendly and pleasant and the breakfast was excellent. Also the location was good with great restaurants within walking distance, it was extremely quiet and public transport close for city and messe.
