  Rovinj is a lovely town - we enjoyed walking around and seeing all the wonderful art. The hotel was comfortable and all the staff helpful and friendly.   The owners were very friendly and even though we arrived late (at 3 a.m.!!) because we had car problems, they didn't seem to have a problem with it.   The hotel is obviously old (as almost any hotel in Opatija) but I liked the way they tried to keep it clean and pleasant for tourists. The rooms are big enough, staff really friendly. A small castle like building on the top of a hill with a small settlement surrounding it. Awesome! We had a nice room, it was a little dark, but not a problem, open the doors and windows. The settlement of Groznjan was fun to be in and walk around. Not a long drive to the Sea and other surrounding villages. Highly recommended to go off the beaten track and stay here.

We had trouble returning a rented car at a pre-appointed time. The owner was kind enough to allow us to leave the car behind at his place and sent us to the bus station. I would surely stay at his place - 1St timers to Croatia, great place to start our trip. Friendly host, location near the sea and great walking tracks into the old town along the coast. The apartment was spacious enough for us and had a small balcony. We cooked and the facilities were adequate, perfect for a 2 night stay. A supermarket is around the corner which was an added bonus. Its about a 15-20 min walk into the old town by road and bus station.
