  Staff was very kind. They let us in the room although it were 7:00 in the morning (when we arrived from the flight). They even gave us breakfast when we arrived.   Definitely did not think it was as bad as some of the earlier reviews make out. In terms of value for money and location it was the best place we stayed in Rio de Janiero (private double room with bathroom and really good air conditioning in a convienient location).   I really enjoyed the hotel, the staff was very helpful. My family does not speak portuguese (I do it), so the staff spoke in spanish with them. We came early the day of the check-in, however since the bedroom was without people, they let us do the check in before the hour. Some people say that the room was small but we stayed at the 3 peop - The rooms are newly renovated and very clean. The room we had was just the right size for 2 people and bathroom is in excellent condition. Despite speaking limited English, staff are helpful. Around the corner is a burger place and across the road is a juice place and also, a really nice sandwich bar and restaurant. About 10 minutes walk to Copacabana beach.
