We booked this hostel because it was the cheapest we could find and didn't really expect much. BUT this was our best stay so far, Louis is extremely friendly and helpful, we felt at home at his hostel and if we didn't have a flight to Belem, we would have stayed longer.

Great hostel with a very civilized atmosphere and very helpful staff. Some only speak portugese, but they try everything to help you.
Louis, the owner, is a great guy, very knowledgable, speaks many languages and goes out of his way to make your stay in Rio the best possible. Depending on what is on, he might take you to a club or spend a sunday at the beach with the whole hostel.

Amazing friendly staff, great facilities and air conditioning. Regularly
cleaned. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful, they will be able
to tell you anything about Rio. This is not a typical "party"
hostel as there are people of all different ages and walks of life.

The location was great, with a stunning view across the city and the perfect place to explore the Santa Teresa district and the historic city. Perfect for a two-three day getaway and would work well if the beach is not an option (winter) or just to mix it up before/after a few days at the beach. The area itself is interesting and from what I gather has some cool drinking holes and restaurants. One could start and finish a book in peace here, yet 'feel Brazilian', and not feel they need to join the flock of tourists seeing the usuals in Rio. I enjoyed spending time at the bar, restaurant and spa - perfect for a day of indulgence!
