Nothing NOT to like. The location was walking distance to the ARCH and other St. Louis sites were convenient by car. Parking was an extra daily fee but reasonable for downtown. Beautiful paneled lobby, great restaurant and bar, athletics and steam/sauna available. But best of all, although a private club, everyone-- staff, wait staff, members-- was extremely friendly and helpful. My husband and my granddaughter would agree that the MAC made our stay in St. Louis a great one.
alla recensioner » I liked the hotel's lobby and entry way beautiful old wood and marble with old world architectural design of an elegant era. The mini-suite we had was comfortable enough for 4 ladies. We had lunch in the dining room, food was very good. Staff was helpful especially Joyce in the dining room and front desk personnel when we checked out. Very convenient to the America Center/Edwards dome. Would stay there again. If you are a sports Lover you Must stay here. The unique & quirky design of this hotel is from a time long gone. What hotel has a Full size Indoor Basketball court on it's premises ? Also a free shuttle to & from the baseball. The caring friendly attitides of all the folks I encountered while living their. The Buffet was wonderful, food prepared with love and quite delicious. Looking forward to coming back in Nov 2014!!!!!!. All the employees were so friendly and helpful. I was there with my grandson to celebrate his birthday and employees showed interest in him. Restaurants were outstanding, food, service, price, etc. We were there for our Holy Convocation. The mac was conveniently close to the America's Center and Edward Jones Dome. The lunch buffet was superb, staff especially friendly and attentive. The staff and restaurants were excellent. We appreciate the shuttle bus to the Cardinal game. The staff was excellent and very accommodating and friendly. I really liked the central location and the traditional clubby feel. Having a full gymnasium and pool was a definite plus. Hotel very nice but it was also a private club so felt as a bit of an intruder. the hotel was beautiful. Its in the downtown. Location. Location. Brian the maintenance guy was awesome. We had to switch rooms because our first room didn't have any cold (yes, you read that right) water, and he went out of his way to help us where the front desk did not. The only nice thing that I have to say about this hotel is that it was in a good location. No new amenities, no fridge or microwave in the rooms. Limited plug-in for all the devices we all had. Rooms very dated with no updates especially the bathrooms not ada compliant. Beds were very comfortable. No small fridge in the room, which is really a must, especially during a Hot St Louis summer. The rooms were being updated and we feel that the ones not updated needed work on the bathrooms. hallways smelled musky. Carpets inside suite needed spot treatment. A microwave and small refrigerator shoud be added to suites. Nothing. Staff were just ok (not rude just not terribly helpful) except in the restaurant where they were friendly and helpful. For instance I understand there is no concierge but why tell me take the kids to Hardee's when there are probably 10 awesome restaurants within 6 blocks of the place that are kid friendly? Internet was out of service for a good portion of stay (but it is free in their defense). Should be advertised that pool is closed on Sunday. It would have been nice to be able to use the sun deck but it was locked as were the billiard rooms. I did not feel front desk staff was very helpful. I explained I had never been to St. Louis before and didn't have much to offer as helpful advice. I also was very frustrated that no one offered any guidance as to the hotel and what we could or could not do. It feels like it is just for men and perhaps business men. Cigar smoke smell throughout building, even though Inam a smoker the smell of cigars was off putting. The rooms could use a little upgrade- like ceiling fans and bathrooms-. Nothing. A little far from Busch stadium but they did offer a shuttle. Bathrooms were small and dated with showers only. It is more of a mens' club hotel. Not really family friendly. Didn't realize there was a dress code in the hotel so not real conducive to families on vacation. cost. rooms were a little tired. weird vibe in the place for travelers. small bedroom, light from the corridor coming under the door night and day. mattress too soft . and do not forget it is an atletic club before all, means at the 8th floor you can hear basketball game which happen on the floor 5 !!! petite chambre, lumière du couloir passe sous la porte jour et nuit, matelas trop mou. Toujours avoir a l'esprit, c'est d'abord et avant tout un club de gym ! Au 8ieme on entend les match de basket du 5ieme étage !!!. Rooms were old and outdated. Limited meal times. dress code. The staff was so unfriendly. Pull out was springs no mattress. Rooms. The hotel was dated and from the moment we walked in we didnt feel welcome. Someone that I assume was a member scowled at us and it was all downhill from there. The rooms are dated, the bathrooms are gross and the shower didnt drain. The only upside was that for my hassle they comped one night and cut my rate in half the others. The staff was absolutely horrible! Every single person that we talked to was completely rude! Even the parking attendance...Any time that we tried to use any of the hotels facilities they had most of them closed. This may have been a nice hotel when it opened but they are in serious need of remodeling from the rooms to the attitudes of every employee. We felt completely uncomfortable.
