  This is a "Classic" hotel that is part of the Waldorf Astoria. Separate entrance, separate doorman, concierge, etc. Feels like "Old New York". Rooms have 15 ft ceilings and wonderful architecture.   Self-contained unit, safe secure entry, spacious with modern kitchen facilities. Plastic bowls and plates cutlery etc..but I guess it saves washing and breakage. Good clothes storage facilities. Neighbourhood is quite ethnic..but safe as we walked back fro the subway late at night and went shopping to try to buy food to cook..which was impossible ... vad folk säger » unless you have ethnic/Asian tastes. Most of the European restaurants are at the other end of Brooklyn near the bridge. Though there is a McDonalds ab - We were really impressed with the hotel. Surprisingly nice for such a great price. It isn't in manhattan but it is a 10 min walk between 2 metro stations and fast to get to everywhere. The area itself was multi cultural which means great food! Also, there were some really great cafes and bars in walking distance (we loved sycamore - which is a flower shop with a bar in the back, milk and honey - which has great breakfast, and there is even a coffee shop at newkirk plaza station that had Toby's

  Great spa, great setting, very, very nice and helpful staff. Very good food except for the Gurney burger--dry and tasteless. Nice rooms, great views, comfortable beds. Very clean and comfortable baths.   I liked the service and people were very nice. Eric the bellboy was nice and friendly. They welcomed us and opened doors for us. The staff was professional and helpful. I liked bowling with Henry and Racquetball too. - The Staff was friendly, helpful and the facility was clean.

  This place was amazing. Going to sleep after the best Sunset, waking up to relax alone on the bluff and deer grazing steps away. Just an overall great experience, with amazing food at the on site restaurant and a courteous staff with clean facilities. I took advantage of on site spa and pool.   It's not easy finding reasonably affordable yet good-quality self-catering accommodation in New York City, but this was perfect! As a young woman travelling by myself, I felt I had to keep my wits about me on the street, but everything was fine (just be sure to use commonsense). The train station is very close, and the local grocery store is only ... vad folk säger » around the block. It's not the wealthiest area, but it's obviously a family area. I was immensely impressed with the chap who carried my heavy bag up - This is a good alternative to staying in downtown Manhattan. Coming from a small UK town the area was a bit of a culture shock. Spacious appartment with everything you need for a short stay. Subway stop just around the corner so easy to get downtown in 15 to 20 mins. You can also walk to the Guggenheim in a similar time. A couple of nice restaurants nearby and a supermarket if you want to eat in.
