The Pub sits in a classic Somerset environment. It is obvious that the people that run it, live in the same way that the Devonshire Alms presents itself. It has not succombed to the tourist trail with silly little bits and bobs. What you see is what you get and that is a beautifully presented rural English hotel. Rooms are clean and great views over the common. Really sweet, olde worlde style, but with modern well equipped rooms, including WIFI. The restaurant food was about the best I have had in a long time! Well worth a visit - even just to the restaurant.alla recensioner »
The whole experience!. Quiet and relaxed. One of the most comfortable hotels I've stayed in for a long time. Very warm, staff were excellent, and very clean. Can't vouch for the food first hand as I rarely eat English or Irish food but was told by others it was very good. Traditional Somerset village setting,Excellent hospitality,Very nice breakfast.relaxing, friendly atmosphere. Great food and fantastic hotel room was lovely great view.quality and friendly service. Location and building very nice and traditional English Inn. The internal fittings and lighting in the bedrooms was very impressive and modern. Liked the reclining bamboo chair. The range of UK and continental beers was outstanding and included my favourites of real ale and German Hefeweizen.Excellent accomadation and garden - very relaxing. Food was very good -it was all just easy. Newly refurbished room, good restaurant, real ales available. Nice and friendly staff. "can do" attitude. Friendly staff. Location was excellent- very peaceful and rustic, but, at the same time, within easy reach of the major Somerset towns and attractions, as well as withinh reach of parts of devon. The hotel itself was very atmospheric and peaceful- lovel bar/restaurant with candles on the tables, etc. The spacious room. The bedroom was very modern and decorated well. The restaurant and bar aea's had a nice feel to them and the gardens are lovely. We were most impressed with the design/interior etc plus landscaping outside. A most attractive Hotel.only that I didn't realise there was no hairdryer until I started looking for it. But one was available immediately I asked. Very quiet no other guests made dining alone a bit odd. lighting and mirror poor for shaving. The information held by booking.com is incorrect and does not reflect that the hotel has informed them that it closes between 15.00 and 18.00 hrs. I and another guest arrived at 17.00 in a snow storm and had to ring for someone to let us in.Hair dryer in the room. Room was on the small side and will need better heating in the winter.Rooms a bit too cold. the en-suite was in need of a bit of refurb and a bit small. Also room was a little chilley. I was really disappointed with the bathroom compared to the size of the bedroom. The sink was extremely small and the whole room is quite un serviceable. The TV reception was terrible I would prefer 4 basic good channels than the whole selection but not able to watch any channel as the reception is bad. This really was a down point on my stay as I wanted to watch the football. Absolutely so annoying that there were no towel rails in the bathroom ...not even for a bathmat.Beds were a little strange. Very modern, not sure of the wooden planks round the outside.
