The hotel is fantastic as is its very lovely lady owner. Me and my partner booked in for a weekend for a wedding and had a wonderful break. The rooms are very comfortable and decorated with beautiful furniture. We stayed in a room with a separate bathroom, the style is very typical of a building of its age and so the shower being part of a old fashioned bath was more of a quirk than a hindrance. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were a pleasure to chat to. There was a band playing on the . alla recensioner »
I loved the old architecture on the house, and how it had been refurbished so that it was clean and comfortable for modern users. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the toilet/bathroom was quaint, comfortable, and functional. I liked how close to the castle, high street, and tourist information area it was. I liked how the owner was so relaxed, and always cheerful. The breakfasts could be light (which we preferred) or cooked, and I appreciated the flexibility. I also liked the live music on.
From the time we arrived we were made to feel totally welcome and at home. The 17th century building oozes character and has a luxury feel with old world charm. Its situation is superb right next to the castle and a lovely menu caters for meat lovers and vegetarians using locally sourced produce. Live music on a Saturday and the local Scrumpy which packs one hell of a punch, made our stay so memorable that we can't wait to return!.
The proprietor Deborah was very amiable, helpful and accommodating. She has clearly put a lot of time and trouble into making this such a lovely, relaxing place to stay, with a great eye for detail. We are looking forward to returning soon and would recommend the Three Tuns. We used it as an alternative to staying overnight in Cardiff when visiting for a Six Nations match, and the train links to Cardiff are frequent and cheap.
Our stay at the Three Tuns was perfect from start to finish. Debbie (the host) was brilliant, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The whole place was full of atmosphere with the 17th Century beautifully decorated and furnished bedroom and bathroom being the cherries on top of the cake. We had a wonderful time and would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing and romantic break.
Quaint, unique, charming, oozing with history. Great location with Chepstow Castle right in the back yard and Tintern Abbey a 10 minute drive away. The building is an old inn and pub, a living history complete with authentic wavy floorboards. Landlady friendly and accommodating to our needs. Food was delicious, especially the vegetable side dishes.
The owner, Debbie, bought a travel cot especially for our 3-year-old son to sleep in, which was very thoughtful. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great music and food - and our room/bathroom was beautifully rustic. They made us and our son feel so welcome and could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Would definitely come again.
Very nice staff who made us feel extremely welcome; a lovely room - lots of atmosphere but also very comfortable; the best breakfast we had on a week's trip; lovely beer; very good location - walking distance from the railway station, hopping dtance to the castle and the Wye.
I loved the friendly staff, Nick the barman was so helpful and Debbie was lovely, the customers made us welcome, too, and it was the most pet-friendly place we've ever been to. The standard of the accommodation was really high, and it was great having our own entrance!.
So enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of Chepstow. Three Tuns is owned by a fabulous lady who is warm, friendly and community minded. Has a standing of local regulars who welcome all. Loved the rustic charm and the great homemade food. Great people, great ale. thank you.
The location was excellent -
Rooms were well thought out with an antique theme and comfortable - The breakfast was more than adequate and freshly prepared The landlady was very helpful, and the Pub itself was excellent.
We highly recommend The Three Tuns.
Loved this place. Overlooking Chepstow Castle close to the river. Ideal starting place for us at beginning of Offa's dyke walk. Loved the decor and rooms. Really comfy bed and food was spot on. Best choice of veggie dishes I have seen in long time.
Friendly atmosphere throughout stay. Room was comfortable and suited our needs. Hospitality from Debs and her staff was brilliant. The entertainment in the evening was good and the locals were approachable and friendly. Would stay there again.

Friendly staff, enjoyed breakfast and lunch. Good location to get into
town on foot, next to the castle, river and countryside close by (if you
don't mind the hills). If eating in town, try the Lime Tree.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, original and beautifully cooked. The bar was a great meeting-place with plenty of characters dropping in. A welcoming inn.
The 16th century charm of the building with its many quirky features and attractively added design touches. The cheerful, friendly and helpful staff and the very good freshly cooked breakfast.
Quiet situation within an easy walk of town centre, also close to pretty river walk. Lovely, traditional inn with excellent staff - very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
The Three Tuns has lots of character, dating from the 17th Century, and is close to the castle. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and the food was good with generous portions.

Great place to stay, location was fab. Staff were so friendly as we're the locals and topped off with live music on a Saturday night.... Home from home!! Highly recommend.
Attractive decor. Friendly atmosphere. Ideal location within Chepstow, right by castle entrance. Menu looked interesting and would have liked the chance to try it out.
A small pub that is adjacent to Chepstow castle. Good food is available in the pub. The room and bathroom we had were large and full of character. Lovely host.
We had a lovely stay. The staff were friendly with a great central location for Chepstow. The cooked breakfast was lovely. An Inn full of character and features.
Staff was very friendly and helpful; very good typical English
breakfast; Chepstow is a beautiful town with and a good location for
visiting South-east Wales.
The Three Tuns is what you would expect from an English Pub stay. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. Nice town, pub is next to the castle. Good breakfast.
The quality of the accommodation was superb. Location excellent. Breakfast great. Beer lovely. Music great and finished at a reasonable time.
Excellent location, friendly & helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious - as were the meals purchased in the hotel during the evening.
The whole ambience was superb and the owner is lovely and helpful. gave advice on where to eat as no evening food available. dogs accepted.
The room was beautiful!!... it helped add to a castle- like atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable.
I loved the 1600 inn. The inn owners are so friendly. I learned so much about Wales just chatting. Rooms very charming.
lovely period small hotel, quirky and unspoilt, staff very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Just what I needed.
Excellent service, comfortable room, and a good breakfast. The location wasn't bad too, pretty much next to the castle.

Very pleasant and comfortable.
Individual , comfortable rooms, eclectic style,
Nice breakfast and helpful , friendly staff.
Great atmosphere and close to important tourist sites. Staff was helpful and good breakfasts.
the food, the room, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the inn being an historical building,.
I suppose some people might find it loud on the live music nights through the floorboards, but I thought it was enjoyable, and stopped early enough.
W didn't mind, but be aware this is a pub that is open to 11 pm. It will be lively below stairs until then. After that, nice and quiet.
Nothing I can fault.
Nothing.
Nothing - it was all good.
Nothing negative to report.
nothing. Loved the lot.
No complaints. Very much enjoyed our stay.
Nothing.
If you go walking on or off the trails, take a map... Mobile
reception is hit-n-miss, and signage sometimes confusing. Chepstow is
quiet off-season.
Our shower room was a little small but the bedroom was comfortable and quiet.
nothing!.
Bathroom a bit small but it didn't bother us at all and there are limits as to what you can do in an old property.
Nothing.
The man in the bar who appeared to work there was dirty looking.
Would have preferred a shower in the bathroom....but eveeything else was perfect.
Nothing.
Sani flow system a bit loud but everything else was amazing.
There appeared to be a water pump in the toilet, which made a loud noise everytime a toilet was flushed in the building, keeping me awake at night.
The towels were small and thin.
need to check tea and coffee and milk tray for adequate supplies.
Beer garden needs a tidy up and smokers should be kept away from the doorway.
Bathroom was very tiny but overall the room was comfortable.
Noise from pub below although it was Saturday night and we were warned there was a band playing. Fine if you want to join in or are going out.
plumbing was indeed noisy probably due to it's being a very old building, but one gets used to it and it's only a very small drawback.
