  As we stayed at Akin Suites for a week plus 2 more overnight stays during trips through Turkey, this became our special little home. The staff are really welcoming and helpful, the suites are fresh and spacious and have kitchens, a sitting room, and the all important item while travelling- a washing machine!   This was the best place I stayed out of 3 hotels in Istanbul! It was super budget friendly but also had really beautiful rooms, really clean and the staff were amazing! it has has a kitchenett so you can make your own meals and the rooms are really spacious.   Each time we arrived "home" to this hotel we were greeted with exceptional warmth. Arriving back after a very difficult day's travel we were treated to a share of the family's meal.....a delicious share! The location of the hotel is great.   We have stayed at Faik Pasha for two nights. This hotel is an excellent option in İstanbul. We chose this hotel due to the Taksim square protests. It is very close to İstiklal Street but it is located in very secure region of Taksim. The room was very well appointed, real boutique hotel style.   The history: Agatha Christie wrote her [Murder on the Orient Express] at this hotel. There is a small exhibition area on the fourth floor about this and other historic moments. The elevator from 1895 can still run (though not always in use). They sell postcards and other souvenirs about the hotel at the front desk. Really a piece of history! The Breakfast - A classic hotel, which I've used twice before, in 1995 & 2005, before its recent refurbishment. It's now three times the price, but the grandeur is no longer faded, it's now a true 5-star place. And I'm delighted to say that the refurb hasn't spoilt its character at all, as this is a hotel with more character and history than most! Staff were great, we got a room upgrade, and an extra hour extended checkout wasn't a problem. If we return to Istanbul, it'll be the Pera Palas for us!
